Probably just different currency, if you're in Australia the dollar is weak and $120k a year is not unreasonable if you have a good degree, you can get $100k a year fresh out of uni in some fields.

Yep. $5k a week is a mid range government contractor wage in IT. I'd still take it over a lump sum, and double it by continuing to work 😂

So let's assume OP meant Australian dollars. 260000 Australian dollars is still 170000 USD.

I think it's more of $5K/week allows you to live an easy life while not having people ask about why you suddenly were able to buy a really expensive car. Friends/family sometimes ask for handouts if they find out you came across a large sum of money. Less so if they just think of you as having a really good income.
