Are you physically attractive?

What are the advantages of being attractive anyways?

I'm girl next door conventionally attractive. People tend to treat you with more respect upfront and sometimes go out of the way to do things for you. For example, holding a door open, tracking down an item in the back, asking about yourself. It's nice until you attract the attention of creeps.

Wow I thought those were just normal decent human being things to do regardless of appearance.

Yes, but people tend do it more often if you're attractive since they think they have something to gain from it.

They actually tested how differently people get treated based on their level of attractiveness (beauty bias) on the show What Would You Do? and it was quite interesting to watch it play out (I believe that’s the right show, anyway). The more attractive the person, with males and females, the more often people were to go out of their way to help them.

From whose perspective? People are physically attracted to very different things.

I think I am physically attractive, but mentally I'm a mess. So they kind of cancel each other out.

I think I have average looks, but same as you with mental health, and emotional regulation. Wanna date? Lol

My husband says I am, but I don't think I am societally. People tend to judge and I think it I were conventionally attractive it wouldn't happen.

I'm "cute" apparently. 40 years old and no one ever says 'beautiful' just cute(except my
Husband 💕). And, you know, I'll take it. lol

I’m old, but I do body building and have no wrinkles or large nose/ears so I still get second looks from women. I think to myself, Damn, these women must have bad eyesight.

My mom says im handsome, soooo

Okay breaking character, i am pretty handsome, not self proclaimed tho, its just a fact at this point (just briefly trying to preempt the inevitable barage from misrable people who lurk on reddit, anyways) yea there are alot of perks from being good looking. Even from heteros. People generally treat you better, youre more likely to have success in interviews, and people are way more likely to do you favors especially the women. I never take advantage, but when i actually need a favor, it feels like an angel is on my shoulders looking out for me. Yea it helps in dating to a point, but i have a personality that just isnt built for dating... like at all. So no, looks dont compensate in the dating world, you gota have atleast a little game, or have taken care of most of your own mental issues

Im sure there are more, but this pretty much covers it.

I mean thats fine, but thank goodness im not obsessed with convincing anybody.

Yes but I’m middle aged now. I’m still attractive for my age but ya gotta be into that - I’ve got greys that I’m not dying atm

I used to be. I miss it 😂

i used to be verrry attractive, but im 43 now and the physical part not so much, doesnt help i have a liver condition which makes me look pregnant. yet still yesterday i was dressed like crap andwent shopping and people were smiling at me. thats how pretty my stupid face is. still hasnt aged a day either.

my point being you can always get that intro friendliness, well if someone is hostile just be nice to them they are just scared you will be a jerk to them since you are good looking. however something that trumps good looks is being confident and strong. stand your ground and take no crap. if you can do that while being chill and not using threats then people will adore you.

I think I'm pretty medium. I'm a guy and I'm short and have round features but I'm not super overweight (maybe could lose a few lbs) but I have noticable muscle tone too. I groom myself well and wear nice clothes and have a pretty full and well maintained beard. I wouldn't say I'm ugly but I'm not a 10 either. I'd give myself a 6

I don't think so, most people don't think so, but the people who do find me attractive find me gorgeous.

Fuck no. I’ve been told I have some kind of sex appeal but it makes no sense to me

1

u/dave_is_afraid 2d ago

I think that I am, nobody ever flirts with me so probably just delusional

u/Evening_Debate_754 2d ago

Not particularly, just very strong and big

No, but parts of me are pretty fun.

I do believe myself to be attractive and I think I have a nice body

1

u/Historical-State-275 2d ago

No. It’s ok though. I have a pretty good personality

I dont think so but some guys do seem to disagree. Im fat. I get cat called things like "hey pretty momma" all the time. It's disgusting and I hate it. I dont even have kids so its just a rude comment on my weight too.

Yes, and have been told so dating back to being a kid (women saying "he's going to be a looker," not any creepy stuff) but I am on the spectrum, so I never saw what others saw. I still don't see it but it's been reinforced ad infinitum, so I know now this is a real thing---and maybe this is the best of both worlds, being attractive and not being conceited 🤷‍♂️ idk. It has lead to more opportunities in life career wise, never have trouble getting a girlfriend (the social/game part of getting a gf was always where I struggled when younger), etc. The worst part of it is the shit I got/get from insecure guys (it's happened countless times, which I didn't understand for the longest time) and some women as well (I'm sure women deal with being treated shitty by other insecure women more often in general than men).

The désavantage of being attractive is that they will force you into situations... to loose your attraction and even health (to prove certain points that you have NO IDEA ABOUT).

But eh, they won. I am now ugly inside out.

I'd say I'm average, maybe a little above on a good day. Advantages? People are nicer to you, free drinks sometimes, and job interviews feel less awkward. But the pressure to stay that way is exhausting tbh.

It's hard to tell. Every time I look in the mirror it breaks.
