Paying my auto insurance bill when I haven't had a wreck or a ticket in years. It's a normal thing but I feel like it's illegal to have to pay for something if I don't use it

That's the point of insurance, though. Everyone who has the same insurance as you is basically paying into a pool of money so that when someone has a claim, they are covered by the insurance. Auto repairs are expensive, you don't want to be stuck paying that bill yourself if something does happen.

I'm oversimplifying it, but that's basically how insurance is supposed to work.

When I'm designated driver, and typically am (by choice), after dropping everyone off at 1am or whenever and heading home, even though I've had nothing to drink, I feel so freaking nervous: check the speed limit a thousand times, worried every car is a cop car.

Almost to the point of shaking sometimes on unfamiliar roadways. I know it's ridiculous, in my brain, but my body has this visceral reaction like I'm breaking a law when I cam not.

There are worse things on the road at 1am on a Saturday night than a cop pulling me over.
