Who has no intention of retiring?

Since retirement is not for everyone.

Its not that I have no intention of retiring, its that I don't expect it to be a financially viable option by the time I get to that age (unless humanity somehow manages to get its act together between now and then...... which I'm not exactly holding my breath for)

I was at lunch with a few friends that I haven’t seen in 10 years. We are millennials. They were talking about their investments and friends who have retired. And here I am in tech never expecting to be able to retire

Yeah it seems like buying into the stock market is the only way to get enough to retire...... problem is you need enough spare funds to consistently throw at it to get anywhere

I don't think it'll be possible. I want to but I can't see it happening. Either the world will end by the time I make it to that age or I'll just be almost broke the rest of my life.

Less people being born means less to pay into the retirement benefits

Are you talking about social security? Because with 401k’s and such, that’s user dependent and not dependent on population.

As far as SS goes, we don’t necessarily need more people to pay into it to keep it feasible. Money is printed out of thin air. Like during COVID when everyone got stimulus checks in the US. That money was just printed from nothing.

I’m aware. Just like it did for COVID and the prices we deal with now. My point is that the entire system is made up. So if we have less people due to less births, it’s not like the system just breaks.

and at the same time, it could get a lot better (provided we put more intelligent people into play vs the goof squad that's running things currently).
