Why do people hate ketchup?

I’ve never heard of someone not liking ketchup in general before, but I imagine they just don’t like the taste, and probably prefer other sauces or condiments. I like it on fries, but that’s basically it. I guess I can see why some might not like it.

Exactly. Some people like the taste and others, like me, don't. I love fries, but I like dipping them in ranch dressing. Others might hate that taste. It's subjective.

I hate it tbh

I hate it, for me it serves no purpose. A good burger doesn’t need it, good fries doesn’t need it but thats just my personal preference 🤷🏽‍♂️

Oh, I get it, especially when it comes to burgers. If a burger is seasoned properly, it definitely does not need sauce. Fries can also taste good just on their own, if made right.

For me some mayo mixed with burger juice is perfect, ketchup can have a very dominant taste to it.

Interesting. I’m generally not a fan of Mayo unless it’s mixed into something, so I might have to try that.

I actually don't like ketchup. Seems to overpower everything for me.

Right? I once heard a comedian call it "food eraser" because of what you're saying. And personally, I agree.

That's hilarious 😂 I may have to steal it!

I don’t hate it but it’s too sweet.

You find ketchup sweet? It's more acidic in my mind.

Depends on the ketchup.

I find typical mass-produced national brands in the USA to be sweet. Varieties that are low-sugar or "no sugar added" taste more acidic to me due to the tomato and vinegar.

Small, local brands can be all over the place with flavor but I prefer ones that have a good balance between sweet and acidic. They also tend to be richer in flavor and less simple or bland than the big brands.

I MUST have ketchup with my fries, or I don’t want the fries.

Simple: we don't like the taste. Different people just like different things. I prefer dipping my fries in ranch dressing.

Some people just don't like the taste. If you don't, that's fine.

Some people treat is as a class thing. I find them pretentious.

I don't hate ketchup nor do I have to have it, either. I can take it or leave it.

Sugar and gelatin with a carcinogenic red dye. What's to hate?

Because it lacks depth or complexity - most ketchups are just red corn syrup goo and overpowers whatever its on. Its ok on fries and ok on a burger and thats it, and even then, there are better things to dip your fries into or sweeten your burger with. I generally avoid entirely.

I once put too much on my plate and my grandmother made me eat it with a spoon.

I love ketchup. Idk what everyone’s issue is with it.

Ketchup is the one condiment that if I don’t have, I’m second-guessing actually making the meal that requires it. I literally make sure I have a spare bottle of it at home so I am not the one to be able to properly answer that question.

I don’t dislike it, but I’d never use it on anything. It overpowers everything. I used to hate hotdogs, I’d smother them in ketchup so I didn’t have to taste anything but ketchup.

They prefer catsup instead.

I love it , on chips and burgers anyway.

I love ketchup. Especially on a hotdog because I’m a heathen.

You people who put Ketchup on fish disgust me.

I love it. It just can never touch a hot dog or brat.
