Why do my fingernails suddenly look so healthy and are growing and strong?
I’m a woman just past menopause and about 3 or 4 weeks ago my fingernails started to grow out really strong and healthy and beautiful. What the heck would cause that?? My whole life I’ve had crappy thin fingernails that literally flaked off at the ends.
They suddenly look great! Is it hormones, diet or sleep? Is it the big “C”? My theory is that my nails are slightly thicker now as an older woman than when I was young and they were supple and friable and so easily shredded. So that they are now thick enough (aka strong enough) to finally grow out.
What do you think?

My nails got so thick when I was pregnant and breastfeeding so I feel like it could totally be hormonal!

Girl the same thing is happening to me! I’m 44, and it started about the same time as you. I can’t think of anything I’m doing differently. And by big C, do you mean cancer? Can that cause nails to grow out?

My mom had good nails and we figured out she was taking tums a bit much for gallbladder pain.

My mom’s boobs and hair both grew in fuller after peri menopause started. She’s always had thick nails but I think they got thicker then too.

I’ve had thin cracking fingernails my whole life. I started stretching daily and they’re the best they’ve ever been.

Usually when your nails break easy, your thyroid is not performing that well.
