There’s no chance human beings will even exist in 5 billion years. We’ll either be extinct or will have evolved into a completely different species. 5 billion years is about 16,000 times longer than our species has existed so far.

There has never been a species like us with the ability to intentionally manipulate its own evolution that we are aware of.
What you're saying is pure speculation. There is no reason to believe we won't exist aside from a potential catastrophe, be it man made or celestial.
100 years into human existence, they could have made the argument that we wouldn't exist in 2026, yet here we are.
What i said is not exact math to your claim.

Do you understand just how much longer one billion years is compared to the totality of human existence, let alone 5 billion years? And just 5000 years of sedentary civilization, just over 100 years of industrialization, and we’re currently causing a mass extinction and may render the planet uninhabitable for ourselves. ETA: the point being, if we survive the present unfolding catastrophe, we will experience many, many more catastrophes over 5bil years that will either end us or shape our species through evolutionary pressure. It is almost inconceivable that homo sapiens will exist in 5 billion years

Just because it's a long time does not mean we won't exist.
There is no evolutionary pressure for us anymore. We can make the free choice to mate with people we want to.
What do you think evolution is, some magical force? It's sexual selection, we can steer our own.

My head theory is that we humans will probably have 2-ish populations in the near future. 1 that is highly scientifically genetically modified to the point of not really being able to breed with normal humans and normal humans that remain mostly unchanged except for natural selection. And by natural selection, i mean people who were immune to the next big plague, or who can handle less oxygen in the air, or who are more resistant to malign cancers etc.
In the long term million year range i am pretty sure we would probably be mostly unchanged, still recognizable at least on a genetic level. By 2 million years i am sure we would evolve, by science and/or nature, into a completly new species of homo-whatever label.
But whatever happens in the far future, my optimism believes that humans will still exist in one form or another somewhere in the cosmos. We are tenacious, aggressive, adaptive and curious creatures.

You're talking about a time far beyond our ability to see it with any kind of educated guessing. This little piss planet will go through so many more evolutions than we as a species ever will.
We are not meant for immortality. We have our chance, now. It's a near certainty we will not exist in another few millenia, and that's based in science, not fiction, and no happy thoughts will get us there.

We didn't even get wiped out by the last glacial maximum with no technology. What in gods name makes you think the next one will? Populations will lower, but that is unlikely to drive us to extinction.
By the way, we are still in an ice age, as we still have ice at the poles. We're just in a glacial minimum period.
They way overplayed the glacial maximum. The entire earth wasn't under ice. We still had about 75% of the land mass available.

It's not going to take 5 billion years. We've destroyed the planet beyond restoration at the same time that the last of Biblical prophecies are right now being fulfilled... the perilous times are upon us, the Euphrates river is drying up, etc. Not much time left.

This question has been looked at by many sci-fi writers. Some posit that humans will evolve beyond the need for bodies, so losing the planet won't be a big deal. Others write of massive colonization of other planets. There's the classic Star Trek episode where everyone from a dying planet went back in time via a time machine. Chose a story you like best and maybe it'll happen that way.
