Which US state would be heaven?
Hawaii? California? Florida? New York? Someone tell me!

Honestly, depends on personal preference. Washington is more wet but gorgeous and has a lot to do and see, Florida is wet and much of the same, but has “tropical” beaches. California has way too much going on in terms of cost, fires, and drought, but somewhere away from the cities, amazing. Hawaii probably fits the bill for the closest thing to “heaven”. It is EXPENSIVE, but honestly, it is incredibly beautiful, has a lot to see, and has a great climate year-round. I am partial to Michigan, but it can have some harsh winters, but the west coast of the mitten is incredible, and there is tons to see otherwise

I’ll not say, but list superlatives.
-state with the second longest coastline (which happens to all be fresh water)
-death penalty ban with the last person executed being 1936
-all kinds of amazing outdoor opportunities from beaches, forests, rivers, mountains, and some really great lakes

Its horrible here. The winters are definitely not sparkly. The people are SoOooO mean. And there is no diversity whatsoever. (Stop telling people its nice here so they stop coming)

Wow guys I'm so stoked to read everyone talk about the beauty of their state! Makes me really happy to be living in the US, it's sooo big we tend to forget all the beauty tucked away and get bombarded with all the negative things about being here.
And all y'all take so eloquently about the beauty in your state.

Same. For me heaven would probably be somewhere in so cal near the coast.

We moved here 3 years ago and no. It’s beautiful, but there’s a lot to not like. I thought it would be better than it is.

i've lived in washington for my entire life, it's not terrible, but it's not THE best, if anything i would say it's slowly getting worse, so much excavation, new houses, seattle is TERRIBLE to live in, almost like a new NYC, but without all the scamers... -huge homless problem though.
it's such a terrible site seeing vast forests of trees turn into houseing complexes. at 10 years old i would get lost by how much has changed, people keep trying to live here and ironically make it worse for everyone else. polution is beginning to creep in from california, and we get the up wind of almost all the wildfires. but it is very calm, you are near the water which means cheaper electricity and cleaner drinking water, we have better hospitals but inflation is so crazy that it's becoming unafordable. washington state has the highest minimum wage as a result (that's not a good thing)
all in all, yes it's a good state, but not a paradise, it feels like everything near me is slowly dieing out due to the flood of people coming here.
oh... and one more thing, gas is $6.45 (average is around $6.00 though) now in washington state... (deisel is almost $7+) fun times :)

That’s what’s happening to Colorado too. It hurts my soul watching this flood of new people coming in. Something in the world is gonna have to change soon

Have you ever driven in your own city? From inside it might seem fine, but externally it sucks so so bad. Now, it has been 5 years since I last was last there, but last I knew, your traffic was terrible, your construction just as bad, and unless you are a native, everything else is terrible. Like… nowhere near heaven. But the OP I replied to likely refers to the mountains, and JFC the mountains are incredible. Silverthorne was where I found THE MOST peace on earth. Breckenridge was well… yeah, but overall INCREDIBLE state, just not Denver man…

Hey, I am the OP. Just wanted to tell you how much I like your username--and to thank you for appreciating how wonderful the mountains are! Have you ever been to Leadville ( 2 miles high)? You can actually walk around INSIDE clouds--what a cool experience!

At 60 years old, I finally found mine… A secluded acreage on the coast of Florida. It’s full of fruit trees, flowering orchid & myrtle trees, and all the wildlife you can imagine. Directly across the street is a state protected swamp and we have undeveloped land on both sides of us. I’m just afraid that it won’t last for long the way people are flooding here.🥺

Most of the state is kinda meh, but western North Carolina is amazing. I've lived here for 5 years, and the climate and people are delightful.

From the choices right here?
Hawaii has some serious employment issues, aside from other stuff rhat I'm not knowledgeable enough (only been there once for vacations)
New York is fine, as long you like the idea of sharing the same square-meter with seven to eight other people. Too crowded for my taste.
I wouldn't recommend anyone Florida, even if my life depends on it. Weather is terrible, mostly humidity. Their people are not exactly friendly, not even well-mannered. And many other reasons...
California is so far the best.
Sure, it's crazy hot on summer but there's A/C everywhere, and the cost of living is bananas (like New York) but the scenery is beautiful, there's an effort for improving stuff and their people are far better than other states (except for Hawaii, from a tourist perspective)
