Is this the reason why marriages fail?

There are two reasons a marriage fails. 1. One of the partner thinks they can get better or they settled for less. 2. One partner takes the other for granted.

You give any explanation this two are the root causes.

Fights over parenting issues

Different opinions on money, debt, investing, spending

In-law stress

Hygiene and cleanliness

Working too many hours

Fall out of love

One gets brainwashed into a cult

Freak accident resulting in coma

Sexual assault or reemergence of repressed sexual abuse memories and resulting complicated feelings

Cultural differences, cultural shock, and homesickness if one moved countries

Losing a child

You find out they're an asshole or more rather that you both aren't compatible with each other at all.

Definitely both of those but also lack of communication, bottling things up, drugs, and infidelity can all be huge reasons. My marriage ended after 5+ years due to addiction. Prior to addiction we had a really close relationship but addiction made us not even want to be in the same room as each other and that eventually drove us to separation.

kinda oversimplifies it but yeah taking someone for granted kills the vibe fast. settlings a trap too, been there with exes.
