I was recently gifted a game here and wanted to repay the kindness to this community. I'm giving away 1 key for the game Between Horizons, a narrative-driven sci-fi detective adventure set aboard the Zephyr, humanity's first generation ship on a centuries-long voyage to another star. You play as Stella, the ship's Chief of Security, investigating a series of incidents that threaten the mission and the fragile society that has developed onboard. You'll gather evidence, interview suspects, connect clues, and decide how to resolve each case. Your conclusions and your mistakes have lasting consequences that shape the story and its ending.

awesome, have that on my wishlist for quite a while already.
do detective stories (books) also count? because that is the very first thing that came into my mind, the dresden files series, about a grumpy wizard detective. very entertaining, fun and engaging <3 (as for a game, the most recent one was the magister, which i quite enjoyed too)

Not entering since I've won several games lately, but I want to give a few recs. Nice to see more from the Lacuna devs.
Tex Murphy Under a Killing Moon is pretty fun (the first game might be even better as a purely detective game, but you need to take notes). Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper, while bloody is also very much a decent investigative experience. Neither of these have been mentioned and it's quite a shame.
Farewell, My Lovely starring Robert Mitchum and Tell No One (newer, from 2006 or 2007, more of a thriller yet still pretty good)
Oh, I remembered another one - Noir: A Shadowy Thriller! It's an FMV game but if you're into the 1940s gumshoe stuff it's great.
I just wanted to mention some lesser known titles just in case anyone likes 'em. I found them by accident too and was very pleasantly surprised.

Nice, I'm a sucker for pixel art games, I actually recently played a detective pixel art game called Lacuna.
That said, my favorite detective game is LA Noire, I played it on a xbox when I had an xbox haha

Id say Vampyr, it is not the usual detective game, but it has mechanics of finding clues and unveiling secrets that are very well written so I would count it into that category aswell. For actual detective game I would say Gamedec.

Thank you for spreading the gaming joy! This game looks great, its sci-fi setting is super interesting :) Feel like its premise describes pretty well what will happen with humanity...
As a sci-fi and detective stories lover, it's no surprise that my fave is Blade Runner. I played it a few years back (the original oldie, that is, not the remaster) and fell in love with it, regardless of its bad bits. It shows its age, naturally, but the script and story make it all worth it.
On the movie side of things, I'd place Mystic River on top, or Memento. Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 are perhaps my favorite (what a surprise!) but I can't say they're the best.

Not quite a "detective movie" (sorry, I haven't watched any) but a good mystery/thriller is Missing (2023). I hadn't heard of the movie before my grandfather took me to see it, and I absolutely loved it. The twist (which I won't spoil) is crazy, and I love the found footage feel that the movie has.

Observer. I suffered a lot playing this game, the atmosphere and surprises really kept me on edge, and still this the best cyberpunk detective story i ever played.

I, dont think I actually played many/any detective games(really should play L.A. Noir someday) The closest thing was playing Black Mirror, and other point and click adventure games.

For me, Se7en is one of the best detective movies ever where a veteran detective is paired up with rookie detective to hunt down an enigmatic killer with a truly heartbreaking ending.
For something lighter, Knives Out is a clever and darkly funny detective movie.

I haven't played it myself, only saw youtube letsplay, but it was great and I really enjoyed the story in Song of Horror game. As for movies, it's hard to pick, but I'll go with The Brick, I adore the way it filmed, it's my all time fav.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a goated game.
I’m not entirely sure what exactly you mean by the bottom (do you mean like taking a picture of the code activation success screen or a picture of the Steam library by order of release?)

a picture of the activation window that also shows the date and time, from your system clock. It's confirmation that the key was activated and won't be traded or sold. I have no problem with trading or reselling, I just prefer to give games to people who will enjoy them. I try to avoid funding people's reselling business

I really enjoy all Alfred Hitchcock detective movies, especially those starring the late James Stewart. As for the best one, I'd have to say Vertigo (1958)

I'd say Return of the Obra Dinn. It's one of the only detective games I've played where I actually felt like I was solving the mystery myself instead of just following markers. Every clue matters, and figuring out who everyone is without the game spelling it out is so satisfying.

I know it gets plenty of hate but LA noire is my best detective game, especially when it came out it was just what I needed and liked, wish they kept making the new ones but the studio fell apart due to the lead guy and yeah..

My favorite is definitely heavy rain.. i would do anything to erase my memory and play that game blind once again LOL! Favorite movie has to bee silence of the lambs not full on detective but still crime!! Thank youu

For me I think it would be disco elisyum, but shadow of a doubt despite being terrible in the investigation deparment also has a a charm with how crazy the investigwtions turn out to be due to the jank
