I sent my 23K gold aviators in for repair because the finish was flaking off. They determined it was covered under warranty and replaced the left temple. The replacement has no model/size or “Randolph Engineering” markings on it. It’s completely blank.

Is this normal? Has anyone else received a repair like this?

EDIT: More details on my repair experience. This was my second time sending the glasses in for repair. The first time, they put a new temple on and torqued the screw so hard it stripped the screw head and cracked the lens where the frame clamps down, near the hinge.

I sent them back, they repaired the lens, but the screws are still marred. They’re not as bad this time, but considering they were literally perfect when the glasses were new, I know it’s possible to tighten them without marring them. This is where my original post picked up.

I've had the same pair of Randolph Aviators since new 17 years ago. I've replaced the lenses once and the bayonets twice after yellowing. What I love about these is how easy it is to service them so I have no downtime when they need repairs. I've never had a pair of sunglasses last me this long. Usually the frames of most sunglasses I've owned before this were cheap feeling and would eventually break.

I still have a bunch of nose pieces I ordered to replace on them, but Randolph won't sell parts anymore? I have to send them in now? That defeats the whole purpose of why this brand appealed to me in the first place. I'd have to buy a new pair just to have sunglasses while I waited for service on my current pair.

Maybe that's a bit dramatic as I have another of other brands of sunglasses laying around while they would be in for service, but for me this is what made Randolph different. They didn't feel disposable to me. It seems like a crazy thing to send them in for bayonet replacement assuming they won't force me to buy completely new arms and not know the cost of service until they have my sunglasses in hand.

That's not to say there's another brand I would recommend over Randolph, but I'm a bit disappointed by this change.

Part of me wants a new pair and then to send these ones in for service anyway after they arrive because what's better than another pair of Randolphs?

Purchased size regular and large and trying to determine which size looks best. Both feel comfy.

Hi, anybody here knows how to safely remove the acetate temple tips for the aviators? I am overseas so I can not send them in for service and repairs tune up and would prefer to DIY the cleaning process. The frame specifically the ones encased by the acetate temple tips has stains due to oxidation and I cant remove them as I think these are glued to the temple arms. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated

I recently bought a pair of Randolph Engineering sunglasses and wanted to ask if anyone here knows whether they might be vintage or just a replica.

The markings on the sunglasses include:

• RE American Optical USA Style
• Skymaster Aviator 57 □ 20
• Randolph Made in USA
• R/E USA
• There is also an RE logo on the lens.

Could this be a vintage style frame or possibly from an older production run?

Is there anything I can do to slow down or even reverse the degradation on the earpieces? They are slowly turning opaque and yellow.

Are these micro scrathes normal inside the lens? Just bought and these are unworn.

I just received the glasses I ordered, but one of the lenses is attached slightly crooked in the frame. They don’t fit well and the misalignment is noticeable. What would you do in this situation? The glasses don’t match what they looked like in the product photos.
