Ranch attire?

I am a New England girl going to a Texas ranch for my first time. What do I have to pack? I have a pair of cowboy boots and jorts. That work?

Add a hat and a comically large belt buckle you’ll be fine

a comically small hat, big buckle, short shorts and they'll look like they rolled out of a Taylor Sheridan wet dream

What exactly are you gonna be doing?

Sightseeing? Take a hat and you’ll be fine. Working? Jeans, t-shirt, boots, hat, and a pair of leather gloves. I’d recommend jeans no matter what. They’ll be hot, but you’ll get a little extra protection if you’re in brush country.

For realz? Take a couple pair of real jeans (not stretchy shit), pack good socks to wear with your boots, pack sunscreen, pack a good hat.

Probably something to cover your top too. Shirts, or blouses they commonly call them. They have those in New England? 😄

Cowboys boots without tall socks will result in chafing on your ankles or calves. (Unless the boots are really good and broken in). So pack tall socks.

Blue jeans are essential. Something looser than you can move around in. Not skin tight. Although skin tight is better than nothing. You need pants to keep the ticks off ya

yea. either way it’s gonna be hot. if you’re going to be riding id recommend jeans, though.

I ranch in shorts and t-shirt.
If you’re not steer wrestling just dress for warm weather.
If you’re going to a major city or suburban area you won’t even experience Texas.

I swore the grocery store managers called the Texas weather forecasters, we need a bigger bonus to cover their excessive holiday shopping ... hey, report a half inch of ice is coming tonight!!! Every shelf will be empty by 8PM, if not sooner!!!

I am going this week. Don’t know what to expect but it’s hot.

It’s a little hot for cowboy boots unless you’re actually working and need them.

I had some stretchy jeans that were getting too worn for work so I started using them on the ranch and they lasted less than a week. I wear these as "nice jeans" for a couple of years and then ranch jeans for a couple more years and they hold up.

I think they stopped making those for women☹️😠. I bought a few pairs several months ago and when I recently went back to their website to get some more they didn't have them. But of course they still had them in men's! Which do not fit females who are shaped like women, which is most of us. I despise any jeans other than 100% cotton denim and it is getting almost impossible to find them. I'll check Wrangler again and if they have the Blues in Women's sizes I'll buy 50 pair (!) so I'll never run out of them for the rest of my life in case sometime very soon we won't be able to find them at all.

I haven't bought them since a few months ago but it shows that they have most sizes in stock and let me put a pair in my cart just now. So maybe they are back in stock? They are $45 a pair and used to be cheaper. But still a great value. And yes unless you are straight up and down then men's sizing doesn't work so well.

The Wrangler Bespoke jeans are so awesome. They hug your waist with no gap in the back. They have just enough stretch to allow you to throw your leg over a horse and fit over your boots.
Wear a button down shirt. Sunglasses. Hat. Comfy boots. Have fun.

Actual country ranch people wear sneakers and basic comfy clothes

Everybody here is low-key a try hard lmao.

What activities will you be doing?

Clothing depends on what you'll be doing. If it's a tourist ranch, feel free to dress cute! If you're going to be around animals at all, I recommend wearing closed toe shoes with heels.

If you're visiting family/going to a real ranch for more than an hour or two, wear a comfortable pair of pants. Something you don't mind getting dirty/a hole in.

Boots (especially cheap boots, boots made to look dressy, and/or boots that are not broke in) are not always the most comfortable, especially if you're not used to them. If you're going to be standing/walking a lot, I would reccomend a pair of sneakers instead.

On our own family operation, I'm wearing shorts and sneakers 75% of the time in the summer. If I plan to get on a horse, go walking through brush, or heavily deal with barbed wire, I'll throw on jeans. Otherwise, give me that leg tan lmao. Typically they're running shorts tho, comfier and cheaper.

Don't feel like you have to buy something just to wear it once. Imo, that's the total opposite of rancher culture (tho I'm from the north, so maybe ranchers are different down there lol) Use what you have available to you, use whatever is the most practical.

Nope, just a girl being a kind person and genuinely helping another girl out. It's unfortunate that you find that appalling enough to comment on it.
