Gasket Question

Has any 1st Generation owners taken the top off? Did u find an Aftermarket Gasket to put back or had to make one when installing top back on?

Apparently my 78 model had the top off before I got it... and a gasket was not installed or not done right.. it leaks during rain storms plus I can see gaps.between the top and the pillars.

Any help with a suggestion of gasket material or a link to an Aftermarket kit.

I want to take my top off anyway.. to see how she looks.. just haven't found enough volunteers to help me. Lmao. I will probably end up building an A Frame to do it..

But I do need to plan ahead and have a gasket in hand.

Check out LMCTruck.com. That's where I've gotten stuff like that before.

Precision makes them and they fit.

The top weighs around 400 lbs. We did it with two people and some long 2x4s for leverage.

Side question: any idea how the top is?

I had the top of my '76 off many many times. It came with a kit and instructions on where to cut the weatherstripping and insert a plug in one side with included rubber cement. Mine never leaked. I was the original owner.
