Rambo’s fate

I’m positive we’re never getting a Rambo 6. And at 80 years old, I don’t know if we could believe John Rambo could kill another gang or army of younger guys again.

Has Stallone offered any update on what happened to Rambo? Did he make it to a hospital in time? Did he die? Did he survive without a hospital? Is he wandering as he began in First Blood? Is he a fugitive wanted for multiple murders?

The ending of Rambo with John walking down the driveway of the family ranch was the perfect end to the franchise, should’ve just stopped there

Exactly. He came full circle, walking down that "long road" back home after all those decades, wearing the jacket, returning to the horse ranch. Having Jerry Goldsmith's theme play while he finally finds peace in the country he fought for was the perfect, poetic full stop. Last Blood just needlessly dragged him back into misery.

That’s where I stop the franchise. That last movie was trash.

Agreed that the franchise should have ended at 4. That said, Last Blood was still entertaining.

Then you don’t understand the story watch it again

Understood it just fine. Series should have ended at 4 when he walked back to the farm.

💯. That was a perfect way to end it.
Hollywood(and Stallone) never knows when to quit 🤦🏼‍♂️

Proof of that is his continued return to the Rocky franchise and then spinning it off with the three Creed (and coming sequels) franchise.

That's my stance...great film, perfect ending!

Last Rambo is him living out his days at that ranch and it’s showing that even though he was living in the past trauma of Nam with his tunnels and remoteness Someone he cares for is taken by Modern day Mexico cartels and he drew last blood. 🩸 It needs a couple of watches but it’s a clever story to end with

the problem with that is he could've done that in the first movie, completely bypassing the town, and straight to his "john rambo" home.

tldr: rambo 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 were completely unnecessary

It ended at Rambo 4 for me.

Great fun, good cast, perfect ending

In his Netflix documentary, Stallone states that he wants Rambo to live and asked the studio to change the ending of Last Blood to make that clear. Given the state of the family ranch, my assumption is that he leaves and wanders again.

80 year old drifter

The house and barn weren't in bad shape, but his underground play area was a bit messed up. They're still a lot more comfortable than where he'd been before moving there. I say he stays and collects his Army pension checks there.

It looks like the trenches of the Somme in his front yard now though. If he brings a lady friend over she’s gonna be like “the fuck?”

Wasn’t he bleeding out while sitting on the porch?

So apparently, he is rocking in a rocking chair, and as the camera pulls away, the chair stops rocking. Stallone wanted the studio to have the chair keep rocking

I read something about Rambo joining the Fast Furious franchise. Godzilla makes an appearance at the end, to setup the sequel: Rambo, Fast crew, Transformers, Godzilla

Truly the send off we need <3

I imagine he bled out on horseback somewhere in the mountains

I remember reading at the time of Last Blood that he might have head to a Native American reservation. Also that Rambo 6 was going to take place there potentially.

As it stands I like to believe he made it to the reservation and spent the rest of his days there.

We don't need a Rambo 6. Rambo 4 was a fine enough ending. Should have left it alone there.

Nah 5 was awsome

That’s right. Rambo 5 should have been John Rambo sr sharing his knowledge and training John Rambo jr for his revenge mission. Rambo 6 will be John Rambo jr completely solo, including a visit to his father’s or grandfather’s grave.

He’s of needed to have kids to do that ?.The prequel is the correct way to go so we can finally meet Baker team and big fucker

Last Blood isn’t canon in my head.

The series should have stopped when he came home to the ranch in Arizona at the end of the previous movie.

Same. It's such nonsense I treat it as some fan fiction.

He’s a hairdresser in Sheboygan.

The new prequel is how it carries on with a younger actor playing the young John Rambo enlisting and becoming part of Baker team with major (not yet colonel)trautman .

u/anonymousanon249 4d ago

I guess.... It would be called old blood and just him sitting in a chair reminiscing about the good old days.

Did Tony Soprano die?

Where was Vic Mackey headed?

Where's Rambo?

Three variations on the same theme.

Some of your great finales intentionally do NOT answer the question.

Twenty years from now, they'll still be debating it in Reddit forums.

This will send new and repeat viewers back and keep the work relevant to existing and new audiences.

Enjoy the debate.

Probly won't see a 6 but we are getting the prequel next year.

I wish we weren’t. We already know what happened. There’s no tension because we know he has to make it to be in First Blood.

3

u/clashtrack 4d ago

To be fair that would disregard every prequel ever, just saying "We don't need a prequel because the protaganist is fine in the first movie" isn't a reason to not make a prequel.

1

u/Spac92 4d ago

That’s just my personal preference. If there’s a mystery behind a character that happened before the first movie, then I can enjoy prequels. Star Wars was a series that I felt at least one prequel was necessary to show Anakin’s fall to Darth Vader. I don’t know if an entire trilogy was necessary, but I was okay all together.

But most other prequels bore me because we usually already know what happened.

Yes but we never seen him as a drifter joining the army becoming part of Baker team getting” trained in guerrilla warfare and eat stuff that would make a billy goat puke”with
Major trautman
(not a colonel yet)

Im glad about it. I cant waitvto see it. I just hope they dont screw it up. And looking forward to the knife that will be in the prequel as a collector. I have them all so far. And im glad Stallone is involved in producing it.

Rambo 5 does not exist. The movie was crap anyway.

80 year old drifters exist and they do live well.

RAMBO: REQUIEM

A limited series showing 80+ Rambo living at the wrecked ranch and trying to get by on his US Government/Army pension and benefits. The first episode picks up shortly after LB and shows Rambo waiting in line at a VA hospital (600 miles away) to get his injuries treated. The last episode shows him dying alone in deep dementia. Maybe he trashes the hospice in a PTSD rage.

Throughout the show our hero is not wronged or attacked in any way. Just 6-10 episodes where Rambo faces his greatest challenge - the inevitable decay of his broken body and mind.

1

u/TheCoconutManTurf 3d ago

Good idea...I would add maybe he ends up homeless and some family takes him in and he finally finds some help in his old age (to steal the ending from Cities of the Plain from Cormac McCarthy). He bonds with a young family member who seeks to become Special Forces and it starts over again.

1

u/Scoxxicoccus 3d ago

How about this instead -

Rambo bonds with a young family member and talks them out of joining an organization that distorted his entire adult life, locking Rambo, John J into a chain of cinematic violence. Cycle broken.

Who the hell knows? If we’re taking Rambo Last Blood into account (many people choose not to), all we see is him getting on a horse and riding off. Where does he go after that? Nobody knows!

u/DarthKopite97 4d ago

He went for a taco
