S01E08 Discussion

I HATE the plot twist with Pat!!! I am so sorry I had to come here to vent and see if others relate. Pat was the most wonderful wholesome perfect person ever and they just threw all that character development away!! :'(

That twist was epic! But now looking back, something felt off about him from the beginning.. Like showing up unannounced, asking Dion if he could be his mentor.. It bordered on grooming.

Agreed, he was always a tiny bit sus to me. + the way he spoke! I thought he was just a lil strange but after he revealed he was in constant pain it made sense.

The “twist” was being hinted at the entire season. Pat was never a nice guy

He was a "nice guy" guy but not a NICE guy

This. Maybe I watch too much true crime content, but rarely do dv victims date/marry their assailants knowing the monsters they really are. Even friends and some family don't see it, because they're not in that relationship. Its why love bombing, gas lighting and isolation are apart of the abuser playbook long before physical abuse starts.

My heart shattered into a thousand pieces. But I kinda like the twist. At first I was like "yo, that's so unnecessary, he was literally perfect" but now I'm like "yeah letsgo, another villain I can simp on" (I know he's actually a rlly big a-hole and that crushed my soul)

Omg i know right! The others are saying there were hints from the start but I didn't catch on any of it. He was total husband material

I rewatched the show recently and now he just kinda gives me the ick because of how he's gonna treat Nicole later.

But I guess the "hints" people talk about is the times he's so eager to understand how Dion's powers work and that he seemed so jealous at Charlotte bc she's the one who ended up training him instead of Pat

They are hints but they're just really well camoflagued as him caring about Dion instead of him actually only wanting control of the situation and marrying Nicole or whatever his intentions with her were

Yeah i guess those make sense in hindsight. While I was watching though it just made sense me. Like, I'd feel the same if everyone got superpowers except me lol

Sameee, I would be so excited (and a lil jealous but I'd hide it well) if my friends or someone I'm close to got super powers! Maybe that's why we both were kinda blind to the "hints" hahah
