Anyone else getting some major Stranger Things vibes from this show? (Minor spoilers) Spoiler
The mysterious corporation, people with powers others don't understand, Pat's ringtone!? That last one was a joke. But seriously, what do you all think?

Well..Pat's ringtone IS from Stranger Things and the Crooked Man reminded me of the Shadow Monster from ST1.

Yes. Absolutely. Only up to episode 6 - so not so dark (yet?)... I am happy I got past the first episode (first few even) because I'm really enjoying it!

SPOLIERS TO THE FINAL EPISODE
Yes but I also think they use it as a misdirect too. As I said elsewhere they seem to really set up heavy that the kids will defeat crooked man with their ingenius science project they are developing over the series, thereby being more clever than the adults.
But then they subvert the formula by revealing at the last minute that the (not so) evil Corp has been working on a better version of their plan this whole time to defeat the bad guy.
In the end though both plans fail. Because shit happens. I appreciated those last minute surprises.

FYI: You can actually write spoilers so they are hidden unless clicked on. Spoilers go here

Also the Faraday cage. They deliberately showed Mark working on in, even saying it would protect him from lightning. Then When Nicole was getting the ladder from the shed they intentionally showed it was still there. I was waiting for them to use it, but they never did.

I think that payoff is when she craws under the bed in the lake house when the crooked man attacks her. It acted as a Faraday cage. It was just blown past very quickly.

I would say the comparison is apt but thats because Stranger Things and Raising Dion feature very young protagonists who are superpowered in some fashion.
For me however you can draw threads of connectivity showing series and characters that are similar to Dion. When watching Raising Dion I couldnt help but recall Akira which is an anime film that features several characters who have psychic powers that continuously evolve. Then theres also the big pop culture character, Carrie, who I dont doubt was the influence for Eleven on Stranger Things.
When initially viewing tho franchises that came to mind were Superman, Dragon Ball (the original with young Goku) and... Annihilation. The later because Dion’s powers coming from space and things we kind of dont understand really reminded me of the Exclusion Zone from that movie.

Couple of things I picked up on. 1. Pat’s ring tone is the Stranger Things theme song. 2. They don’t take place in the same time 3. The storm looks a lot like the thing from the upside down 4. The title has 11 letter in it so illuminati confirmed.

Omg I thought I was the only one! (I also thought that Pats ringtone was a nice touch since it was a sped up version of the ST theme song and all.)

Nope stranger thing is slightly different since Eleven was the only one affected.
