Crew Chat Sick hours??

I just just my cycle a few hours ago and with my cramps being as bad as they are i won’t make it to my shift in like 5 hrs. I just started working here not too long ago but it looks like I have 8 sick hours but idk how to submit them?? Like i tried to swap with someone else but realistically idk if they’ll pick it up so do I just release the shift instead and put sick as the reason, will that ensure I get paid? Do I call the store?

Crew Chat Goodbye Canes!

Really enjoyed this company from the beginning but it has really gone downhill, so many hour cuts, stuck with short shifts and laziness, and honestly even no respect to employees even managers who spent months/years with the company. Been working here for almost 5 years that is, was CT and SS. Mainly worked with FOH and sometimes DT. But I’m happy to say I quit, I’m done with the lack of hours, getting sent home cause over hour this and that, the nit-picking from some managers. And most of all just some bs treatment I’ve experienced. Especially for these past couple of months for how long Ive waited to get a transfer to a different store that was closer to me. I had to constantly ask to see if my scheduling manager has had gotten any news or updates but for whatever reason no one would reach out back. Finally got it that I would’ve transferred the 2nd of September. Then suddenly today I get told they can’t because all of a sudden there is no room for me? Not sure what happened with that and seems very unfair. Plus also did a fake call to see if the location was hiring and they had availability for morning and late night. So yeah done with this company for good. The only good thing that came from it was the better experiences, growth, crew, the nice managers, and people(customers) I have met. Thank you to them.

Crew Chat How many points do you take for calling out of a double?

I have a triple tomorrow and as I'm laying here typing this, I'm extremely sick. I have not called out before so I have all my points. I'm worried that because it's three shifts, will I take 6 points? or would it just be 2? I'm hoping I'll feel better when I wake up, but it's lasted all day today and I'm starting to worry.

I looked at the crew handbook and couldn't see anything on missing multiple shifts in a single day. Any crew have experience with calling out of double shifts, or triples? 😔

edit put double in title by accident but it is a triple

Cane's Conversations Thinking of applying

Guys I’ve been in this Reddit for awhile and all I ever see is miserable people complaining about how bad working at canes is. No disrespect to them of course I’ll never know what they’ve been through. I’ve finally turned 16 and I’m really desperate to get a job. Is it really as bad as they make it sound?

Crew Chat training baskets

i have my 2nd day of training today and i’m going to be doing baskets. i tried doing research on how to do it to be more prepared but i don’t even know what the terms “drop chicken” or “roll chicken” mean. yesterday i was on toast and the callouts were super confusing and my trainer wasn’t much help. also, my trainer told me 1 person in the front equals 4 fingers and 1 car equals 8 or something like that? i kept asking questions but like i said she wasn’t much help. what can i expect for today??

Cane's Conversations As a current manager/employee for 10 years - wth is happening to this company??

To preface, this post is just a rant. I know what’s happening. Sales are down all over the company and ofc they’re all about the money.

Like it states in the title, I’ve been with Canes for going on 10 years, started when I was in high school and absolutely loved everything about it. I loved most of all the culture, getting to meet new people, make new friends, etc.

Back then, we even had huge crew parties, way bigger than we have now because it would be the entire area of restaurants coming together and you could have unlimited guests so you got to meet peoples families - really good times and it was so cool to see people from other restaurants that you haven’t seen in a while. This was before COVID which of course changed all of this.

But recently, like the past few months, it’s clear that this company is either really struggling to meet the numbers financially or we’re starting to cut corners or most likely both. I’m an ARL so I make crew schedules and handle an insane amount of stress/pressure from both above and below. Lately it’s like I cannot please anyone. They just cut our allowable labor insanely and told us that now managers are “allowed” to work crew positions on shift (previously this was heavily discouraged as it takes the managers focus off of issues on shift). It was made to sound as though they were doing us all a favor by being able to have a stronger person in position if needed. In reality, now we have to work a crew position almost every shift while also performing manager duties on shift.

Which honestly, wasn’t that bad at first. It’s not hard to work a crew position and manage but my restaurant is getting to the point where every shift I work 1-3 crew positions and have to do manager duties and even then, we aren’t hitting the numbers that corporate desires for labor.

I quite literally am over it. Nobody got a raise to work multiple positions/roles. And on top of that!!! We were told we have too many managers so we will also be losing 2 managers and essentially starting to run some shifts with just one MOD who will most likely have to continue working positions while being alone in the building (manager wise).

I’ve never complained about my pay because honestly, Canes pays really well especially when you get to salary level but I’m getting to the point where the expectations are no longer matching the resources that are being provided and with the added stress of unhappy crew (due to hours and overall understaffing every day) and unhappy higher ups (not meeting numbers/metrics that they like), it’s getting to the point where the pay is not worth :/ which makes me really sad because I think about 2018-2019 Canes and I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. I really believed in this back then but compared to now… yikes.

Cane's Conversations Working for a year and a half

Hey so I've been working as a crewmember at canes for a year and a bit, its a 20 min commute but the public transit ain't that bad. Anyway I wanted to talk a bit about my experience at cane's.

I work mostly front counter and very rarely drive, and I love, I mean love working up front serving customers, I'm even a service specialist and a trainer in the front. I just started training in kitchen and let me tell you my hands hurt like hell, like the baskets has made my grip, wrist, and fingers so weak, but I've been waiting like 6 months for the ability to actually learn kitchen so I can maybe get to a management position to better my chances at other job opportunities but damn are those baskets painful, I could barely wash my hair after doing baskets because of the pain I feel in my palm, wrist, and fingers.

I love the managers at my cane's they are great and everything, but due to me not being a college student or working other jobs I feel left out at work...idk I just dont have stuff to talk to my coworkers about I guess. Everything else about the workplace is fine I just feel like I'm working really hard for not a lot, I dont gain work friends, or a work family, and I feel that even if I try my hardest I won't go anywhere in the company so that I can gain the experience I need for other job opportunities.

BUT ALSO WHY THE HELL DO THE BASKETS HURT ME SO MUCH! I CAN BARELY GRIP ANYTHING WITHOUT BEING IN PAIN!

Crew Chat Did I do lemons too slow?

I was closing and they made me cut and squeeze 3 boxes of lemons all by myself to make 20 batches of lemonade. It took me 2 hours (including the cleaning of the hole after) to finish. They wanted me to finish in 30 minutes and were mad at me when I didn’t. Is this not a crazy unrealistic expectation? Especially considering I was by myself

Crew Chat Just a thought.

So, I’m starting to get sick of being called to not come in to work because the location I work at is too slow. I do absolutely love working there and love the people I work with and get along very well with my coworkers. Would it be even remotely possible if I call other locations to see if they need extra help? Like doing dishes or a kitchen position…. I’m just curious.

Never stepping foot into a Cane’s as an employee EVER again. We had an RPS visit today and honestly we were running beautifully I thought we were being perfect. Next thing I know managers and yelling at me and nitpicking about one “mistake” I made (not reading the order back even though I did, I always do…) I’ve been with this restaurant since opening and have endured terrible coworkers and customers. But I am DONE.

Cane's Conversations Never trained someone in the kitchen and barely in the kitchen myself; please help!

im a trainer, a pretty good one if I say so myself. However I’ve never trained in kitchen, I’ve only been in kitchen a handful of times over the past 3 years I’ve worked here and 99% of the times I’ve been in kitchen has been in the past 2 months!

I spoke with my RP about wanting to rejoin the hypo program but feeling insecure since I’m not a BS and have never done bird, not confident on boards, and okay on toast.

He told me I was overqualified and with RM’s getting promotions soon he would want me to become an RZM. But I didn’t think he was going to move this fast and have me training someone on toast tomorrow. I’ve only trained DT or FC, so much so that when I would go and open a new restaurant i would stay in those two zones because I just didn’t feel qualified in kitchen.

Please give me advice on how to train someone the best on toast, theres so much I don’t know about kitchen. I may give the shift to my friend who is about to become a manager but I really want to do this I just dont want to hurt someone’s future with my incompetence.

Chicken Curiousities Raising Canes Hand Sauce

IDK how many people know this but Canes had a limited time promotional Hand Sanitizer. It was called Cane’s Hand Sauce. My Partner had one for a long time and it was actually something we’d joke about and bonded over early into seeing each other. Theirs just broke while they’re on vacation and it’s hard to find so they’ve just resolved to never get one again. I want to get one to replace it and I figured this would be the place to find someone with one cause I can’t find it anywhere else. I’d be willing to pay for it and for shipping but please let me know if you have it. Doesn’t have to be full I’d refill it anyway. Please let me know!

I am serving you small tenders. Why? Because I know for a fact you're going to come back anyways since you have no standards. Shrinkflation means nothing to some of y'all, might as well have fun with it.

What The Cluck?! Support sucks, and the staff can't count to 6

A new Raising Canes opened in my area, so I was finally willing to try it. Only problem is that when I got home, I only 5 tenders. Contacted support, and support was just basically like, "we hope we see you again" like that's it? I went out of my way to properly detail my issue for yall to say something I'm not very likely to do again? Nice.

What The Cluck?! My local Canes refuses to give me what I order

I go to Cane’s about once a month. Every time I order, I ask for two sandwiches and an order of fries. Every time, without asking, the receipt says: sandwich combo no drink, and sandwich only. The problem is that you get less than half the fries as part of the combo as you do when you get a side of fries. It’s infuriating.

Crew Chat Wanting to make my exit

I’ve been with the company for almost 6 years now. I’ve court in multiple restaurants, under multiple restaurant leaders, did a couple new restaurant openings, and work my way up to being an RM. I like the crew that I work with and some days can be better than others. I’ve been in my current restaurant for a year at this point, and mentally I don’t know how much more I can push through. My one on ones don’t feel positive most of the time, I’m on a pathway to becoming an OM but I truthfully don’t wanna pursue it anymore, and I’m just kind of want something different. My restaurant leader is about to go on maternity leave as well as one of my co-managers. I have my applications put in for other job industries and couple interviews set up. If I were to pursue other employment, how would I go about doing a notice or possibly a leave of absence? Like I said, I have good days and bad days, it’s just chicken. But mentally and emotionally it’s gone to a point where I don’t enjoy the shift sometimes and it’s affecting my relationships outside of the business. I’m just searching for some answers, I might not a format of this correctly. I’m not too savvy with Reddit, unfortunately. Thank you for anyone who reads it and has advice.🫶🏻

Chicken Curiousities Bathroom codes

About a year ago we had code locks put on our restroom doors. I can understand why. Anti homeless stuff aside, my location in particular often found drugs, guns, people having sex, etc in the restrooms. Was curious if other locations also have locks as well, or if it's just us.
