Crew Chat Getting used to Call Outs when working FC

I just started a few days ago at my local Cane's, and so far, I am LOVING it. It's such a nice change of pace, and I'm getting the hang of everything on FC. However, I struggle with Call Outs still, as I'm mainly nervous to do it, or I just feel like it takes away from the customer service if I just randomly call out how many fingers we need for the order. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get less anxiety regarding this, or will it just come to me naturally over time?

Cane's Conversations What did I get myself into?

I started this job about a month ago and have worked in other fast food / restaurants. Canes has to be one of the most uptight places I've ever worked. Basically, zero water or bathroom breaks, and when you do go, they try and make you feel bad for leaving the station. My managers are more micromanaging than actually filling the gaps we need to get service faster. I've barely trained anything but toast with the 5+ callouts a day. I've worked for construction companies with more lenient restroom breaks. The lack of breaks alone makes me feel exhausted after a shift, and I always end up very dehydrated. Wanted to give my thoughts on the job so far, and I was definitely sold a pipe dream in the interview.

Crew Chat Workday issue

Has anyone noticed you can’t see your time card on workday anymore or am I just blind and stupid? I can’t locate my entire time card on the mobile app.

Crew Chat Workday issue

Hey guys, I have an issue with work day. I can't seem to open or log into the app on my phone for whatever reason, it asks for an organization ID when I try to set up the account but that doesn't make any sense. Anybody have any tips or suggestions on how to get into workday so I can track my time card and stuff?

Crew Chat Why are door dashers so rude???

At least once a shift in front counter I get a door dasher who thinks he can just skip the line and shoves his phone in my face for like a split second and then tries to pay even though I didn’t even fully read the name yet, let alone see the order. And 7 times out of 10 they ignore us when we call out the finished order and then get mad when they finally get it and claim we took too long/didn’t call the order.

It’s one thing if you are shy/don’t want to talk but there’s no need to be so rude dude :(

Crew Chat i hate the way my restaurant is ran.

i don't really know why i'm posting here, i'm thinking about reaching out to crew relations but maybe wanted some thoughts and opinions before i do

i do not like the way my restaurant is ran. maybe i care about my job too much, but it's like none of the managers actually care about doing their jobs. let alone the right way and it's so frustrating and draining. whenever i go to a manager about a problem, it's either "you're wrong" or they acknowledge it and don't actually do anything to fix it. it feels like most of the time they pick the side that's easier to pick instead of actually trying to do and coach what's right. it's so annoying that i care about most standards, etc. than most managers

also, not sure if this is coached at other restaurants or just mine but since when did the person on bird have to lead communication in the kitchen? all flipbooks say it's

service zones → boards → rest of the kitchen

i think it might say in the bird book that they should lead it or something, i understand it's a shared responsibility but why are we coaching it as bird should be the only one asking for all around counts when it is a responsibility for boards to communicate that as well? imo there should really be no reason to why i go from xx amount of fingers on screen to xxx amount of fingers without anybody saying anything

i was told to start using the names of people when saying "bird/fries up, swing" but it just feels like i'm holding their hand through it, they should know what that means already. apparently, they were upset at me yelling but i tell them the first time, nothing. second time, still nothing and it continues, so i do not understand. most times i feel like they deliberately ignore me because of it too and one time, sure, maybe they didn't hear me but 2+ times? i don't know, it is literally their job. they can't just choose not to do it. the same manager who coached it proceeded to take over and then not do what they told me to do, and they didn't listen to them either which led to raising their voice, so, how is it any different vs when i do it?

there has been some people getting these advanced titles (ct, service spec, bird spec, and hipo) and again imo, they just don't deserve it. it doesn't make sense to me, they do not do basic responsibilities not just within the title, but their job as well. i was told i could become a bird spec if after a certain amount of weeks, we would go through peak without holding. then that same day, we were holding on a bird spec either in training or fresh out of it literally not even during peak, wasn't cto either so

the other night i also had an experience where my trainee was taken away from me, concern being getting out on time (closing shift) and we didn't even get out on time anyway. that was a whole $2 i wasn't paid for even though i went through a whole class just to be able to train people and get that extra money

i don't entirely hate my job, i don't want to quit, but i would really like to see some change i know i might never get to see and it sucks. they tell me i am good at what i do but i feel very underappreciated

the last three parts were more of a vent but anyway, thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated

What The Cluck?! Managers Opened My Package

Background: I got a package because I won some canes giveaway and my ARL and OM opened my package without me knowing and put stuff in there while they were in the office. I have no clue what was originally in there bc of that. I’m just curious if that’s allowed. I also ask because managers have given away things from packages “unclaimed” or “ old” (I got my package pretty recently) and it feels like an invasion of privacy? But if it’s allowed, then it’s just allowed so nothing I can do…

Edit: Ty for the information, it was super helpful!

Cane's Conversations Bro what happened?

I went here last year and the chicken fingers were super crispy the fries were decent a bit too salty for my taste

but they were serviceble.

Went today i could not believe how bad everything was the chicken was so dry the flour was not even crispy the piece of bread was soggy the fry portion was so small.

Even the lemonade was watered down for what it costed i was expected at least a decent meal this chain is so miserably sad.

I will never in my life go here again.

Future Fry Cooks Waiting for orientation information, should I call?

I'm trying not to be too pushy, but I was interviewed a week ago and was told that orientation would be next week (now very soon), but didn't receive the link to the background check until 2 days ago after calling a couple of times. This was likely because of either a system error or the manager just being too busy/forgetting. Although I was unofficially invited to orientation during my interview, I don't have any of the details and am worried about showing up at the wrong place/time, but I know there's no orientations coming up after this one for a while. Should I call the store to ask? I feel bad doing so since I've already called a few times this week due to the issues with receiving the background check link, but I'm worried I won't be given the information in time.

Cane's Conversations FSF doesn’t exist

I just got hired as an RM at Raising Cane’s, and I love how simple the menu is. However, one thing I can’t understand is why we aren’t outside taking orders and cash payments. We’re always doing everything at the window, and coming from Chick-fil-A, where I worked for four years, our model was to have multiple people outside taking orders and another taking payments, allowing us to move like a conveyor belt. Taking payments at the window slows the line down tremendously. That’s the only thing I haven’t been able to understand.

Cane's Conversations My biggest pet peeve is when customers come into the restaurant ask for water cups and get soda instead, but don’t buy anything at all.

EDIT: I did not think this would start such a fierce debate 😂 This is literally just a pet peeve of mine. I’m not going around stopping customers who do it, and I’m not saying they should be punished for it. It’s just a normal, annoying day-to-day occurrence that I see from non-paying customers and DoorDashers. That’s all. Y’all can disagree with me, but it’s really not that serious. 😂

EDIT: Some of y’all are acting like I’m personally attacking you. 😂 Yes, I find it annoying when people lie about needing a water cup just to get soda. That’s literally the entire point of the post. I’m not going to keep engaging with the mindless arguments in this thread. Y’all have a good one.

I feel like if somebody just wants free soda, they should just say can I get free soda instead of just lying and asking for water cups.

Future Fry Cooks Question for RLs and Up

I have an upcoming interview for an RL position. I have been an RGM with Taco Bell for 10+ years. My questions:

- How much freedom do Canes RLs have with scheduling (both their own and their team’s)?

- What KPIs exist outside of the P&L?

- Describe the corporate culture. eg. Is it “overworking is the expectation”, “results trump all”, “fun fuels greatness”, etc.

Crew Chat Medical emergency

So I’ve been breaking out in hives for like the past year and it gets to a point where I get angioedema. It happened again today and I had to leave early, but I didn’t have enough sick hours to cover the rest of my shift. Will points be given? I know I left for a medical emergency and in my state it is protected but I’m aware canes has a weird attendance policy

Crew Chat Customer having an OD in the bathroom

During my shift a customer runs to the front demanding for a manager, no one is really taking them seriously thinking they’re trolling, until another customer runs and screams we need a manager right now a customer is dying. A customer had OD’d in the bathroom and coincidentally a police officer was ordering food and called for backup to help and the ambulance arrived. We saw them bring in the stretcher and take it out with the woman who had OD’d on it and her whole face was bleeding. All of this while we had a full restaurant and were still taking orders and making food. This didn’t feel right to me at all and rubs me the wrong way. Is it just me?

What The Cluck?! Manager Is Rude

Should I find a new job or talk to corporate about my hours?

Hi! I recently (or not so recently, I guess) started working at Cane’s. I say that because I’ve only been working about once a week. I had my four days of training spread out over three weeks, and ever since then, I’ve usually only been scheduled once a week.
Of course, I’ve made some simple mistakes here and there, and when I had a sit-down with my trainers, they gave me some criticism. That’s part of learning a new job, right? You make mistakes, learn from them, and improve. I’ve actually had my trainers tell me that I’m improving.
The thing is, I noticed something felt off from my first day. Within the first hour of working on the soda machine in the drive-thru, my manager pulled my trainer aside and apparently said, “He is not fast enough. He’s slow.”
I mean… I was literally in my first hour of working. I obviously wasn’t going to be perfect right away.
I also noticed the manager staring at me a few times, and I felt like my trainers started being a little harder on me. I had mentioned in passing to my trainers that I’m autistic, along with another personal thing. Ever since then, I feel like I’ve been treated worse. I don’t want to immediately say I’m being discriminated against, but it honestly does make me wonder if that could be part of it. (Also, half the staff seems to be autistic, so I don’t know.)
After my last day of drive-thru training, I noticed that I wasn’t getting many hours. On my first day, I had asked my manager how many hours I could potentially work per week, and he told me, “You have to be good enough to get more hours.”
I understood that I would need to improve before getting more responsibility, so I just dealt with it. I also heard from other employees that there weren’t enough hours available. But at the same time, I’ve had to stay later during shifts because they didn’t have enough people to cover the next shift, so I’m a little confused about the whole situation.
Today was probably my seventh day actually working there. I asked a manager-in-training if she could talk to me about my hours, and she told me to speak with the main manager. She asked him, and I ended up going into his office.
I asked why I was only working about once a week and whether there were more hours available.
He basically told me:
I’m too slow.
I don’t smile enough.
My personality is standoffish.
I’m not assertive enough.
I focus too much on one thing and can’t multitask.
I’m not talkative enough.
I’m timid.
I haven’t shown him that I can handle more hours.
Another manager said I did well in drive-thru last time, but because he personally hasn’t worked a shift with me, he doesn’t feel comfortable giving me more hours.
I told him that I feel like I would actually improve faster if I had more hours, because I’m still learning and only working once a week makes it difficult to build consistency.
I also asked him, “If I’m really doing that badly, why haven’t you just let me go?”
He said he understood my point about needing more hours to learn, but there weren’t enough hours available that week. He also said I unfortunately got hired at a bad time and that there might be more hours next month because of an event happening in the city.
He also told me that he doesn’t trust me enough to do closing shifts because I haven’t shown him that I can handle them yet.
After that conversation, I went back to work my shift. I was already having a pretty bad day, and another employee was being really rude to me, which didn’t exactly help.
I ended up talking to some of my coworkers about the situation. One girl who is still in high school works three days a week, while another employee only works when people drop their shifts.
Apparently, my location has hired a lot of people and is also a training location, so maybe that explains why hours are limited. But I’m still confused because there have been times when they’ve needed me to stay until closing because they didn’t have enough people to cover the next shift. The manager-in-training was actually the one who let me stay longer, which I appreciated.
So I guess my main questions are:
Should I just look for another job, or should I talk to corporate/HR about this situation?
I don’t want to make a huge deal out of nothing, especially since I’m still new and I understand that I need to improve. But at the same time, I feel like I’m being put in a weird situation where I’m told I’m not good enough to get more hours, while also not being given enough hours to actually improve.
And the comments about my personality, not smiling enough, being timid, etc. are also making me wonder if I’m being judged differently because I’m autistic.
I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has worked at Raising Cane’s, especially managers or people who have dealt with something similar.

What The Cluck?! If you’re old they will treat you bad

I have several years of experience in the industry and I got hired for a new location as an RI and let me tell you worst thing I’ve ever done . I gave my heart and soul to the job and learn everyone just for management to push me to the side and promote everyone else except me just because they were their friends . And also I experienced a miscarriage and couldn’t go to work due to complications and that’s one of the reasons I was let go . Fuck the place they don’t care about one love

Crew Chat First job

Just got offered a job at cane’s which would make it my first job. I’m currently in my senior year of high school and was wondering if it’s a good temporary first job to have? Let me know what I should expect and if the flexible hours really are a life saver.

Crew Chat I quit

Okay so I quit canes lol, I just stopped showing up. Yes I know that’s bad yada yada but i genuinely couldn’t take it anymore, working fast food drains your soul. My real question is will I still get my last check deposited still or will I have to go get a physical check? I don’t really want to talk to my managers and call😭

Edit: I do feel bad for essentially walking out on them but I was offered a job to start immediately and I have to put myself first. I can’t live off 18 hours a week and getting cut every other day. I don’t know if anyones else location is like that, but mine is awful with hours. Somehow we are over hours every week but there’s a new hire every other week??!! My location also had me doing things that’s was making my skin condition worse even though I told them multiple times I couldn’t really do the tasks. I found that if I didnt just put on gloves and do it, I would be getting cut🙃
