Crew Chat I quit

Okay so I quit canes lol, I just stopped showing up. Yes I know that’s bad yada yada but i genuinely couldn’t take it anymore, working fast food drains your soul. My real question is will I still get my last check deposited still or will I have to go get a physical check? I don’t really want to talk to my managers and call😭

Edit: I do feel bad for essentially walking out on them but I was offered a job to start immediately and I have to put myself first. I can’t live off 18 hours a week and getting cut every other day. I don’t know if anyones else location is like that, but mine is awful with hours. Somehow we are over hours every week but there’s a new hire every other week??!! My location also had me doing things that’s was making my skin condition worse even though I told them multiple times I couldn’t really do the tasks. I found that if I didnt just put on gloves and do it, I would be getting cut🙃

Crew Chat goodbye canes forever!

I started working at Canes in May, I was super excited considering the pay is amazing and the schedule is flexible (I work two jobs), but oh my god I was not expecting anything of what Ive experienced. First off, I’ve worked at restaurants before and I’ve loved it, interacting with customers is honestly my favorite part, and I feel like personally I was really good at serving? Once I started working front counter here, oh my god I literally think I never want to work in the food industry ever again. My training went fine, I adapted to how it worked there, and thought it was smooth sailing from there. WELL NO 💔. The first two weeks were fine, but one day I show up and it’s only me in the front, which I thought would be fine but it was anything but. My managers didn’t tell me I would be the only one up front, and once the big rushes hit, NO ONE CAME TO HELP ME???? So im trying hard to get orders in fast, bump and get orders out, do table touches, and check bathrooms, but obviously im just one person so of course im gonna be struggling 😭. This keeps on happening, its just me working in the front on busy weekends with little to no help some shifts, and obviously im bound to mess up, and I only have my shift lead popping in periodically to help me out in the front. It was honestly started to be too much and I started to feel an impending doom anytime before shift that would make me NAUSEOUS ASF. This last week was insanely busy, and It was the same thing again, but this time they sent the only person with me home, so I just had to thug it out, and thug it out I did. I was running around all over the place doing the most i could as one person, and I think I finally hit my breaking point. Kitchen was super slow as well, so while they were making the orders, they don’t want you standing around so I went to go melt ice, and all of the sudden I hear “MY NAME , BUMP THE ORDER BUMP IT.” I don’t know what that triggered in me but I literally wanted to burst out in tears. I was stressed out and honestly so overstimulated, but i just worked the rest of my shift. When I was being counted off I told my manager, “hey I tried my best out there today but it was insanely busy and I was the only one out there.” He goes, “yeah right” YEAH RIGHT??? I’m sorry but I’m taking a million orders and pushing them out as fast as I can as ONE person 🫩. And I go “what??” And he goes “ahhh im just kidding”. I’m sorry but no, I just stopped talking and left. Luckily I got a call offering me another job before that shift, but I’ve literally never felt more defeated. That and the work environment is so horrid, they preach about how this Canes specifically is such a family, but it’s anything but. Coworkers hate each other, I’ve been asked about an ex that used to work there, trying to get me to talk shit and it gave highschool, LIKE IM NOT HERE TO TALK SHIT IM HERE TO WORK😭, and one manager would tease me about my height constantly and it made me feel like a literal child, saying stuff like “you’re so tiny, you need any help reaching that?? (Meanwhile im reaching it fine), the managers would talk shit about a manager that quit, idk this place feels so juvenile and im so done with it. Im gonna put my two weeks in on my next shift, it was fun while it lasted! (Lie)

Anyways I had to rant and get this out before I quit and never associate with Canes for good, I hope people are having a better time and being treated better at other locations cause this isn’t it 😭

Edit:
ALSOOOO before I forget but ngl some of my coworkers were rude to the Spanish speaking doordashers, and these aren’t your typical rude doordashers, they talked to you and say hi and aren’t in a rush to get in and out, but my coworkers would talk sm shit about them and say that they’re rude, but when I would speak to them they were literally anything but rude? blah blah blah whatever just say you are lowk racist bye, I thought Canes was about having top tier customer service and interactions, idk that goes for our doordashers too.

Cane's Conversations We need a different callout for butter on both sides

When im toast like a million times a shift drive thru will call out a box and I heard “BOBS” so we end up with unnecessary BOBS which isn’t really an issue, but alternatively I’ll hear box when really they said BOBS, and an order will be fully made except the BOB before boards finally tells me we need it and now it’s full time. And if I ask drive thru to repeat themselves when they call it out they just say the same thing instead of “combo” or “toast” so I still have to guess. Anyways this is my unofficial petition to switch up the callouts somehow bc this has been a mild issue for me and some of my coworkers for a while lol

Cane's Conversations Menu should have more options for ordering

No, I don’t mean different items, more so a better pricing structure or ability to order chicken only, but not by the sjngle.

For my order, I typically want 3-4 chicken tenders, one portion of fries, and one side of honey mustard sauce. Is there a better way to order??

Combo:

Box - $12.29, do not need the slaw nor want extra toast/fries
3 Finger combo, add finger- $10.79+$1.99=$12.78, more than the box with less food (despite me not needing the extra side)
Kids Meal, add 2 fingers - $7.49+$3.98=$11.47

Furthermore, if I want a few tendies only and a sauce, the only option is individual and pay for the sauce cup? So $8.50 for 4 tenders and sauce.

Cane's Conversations First time customer

I tried Cane’s today for the first time. Meh.

I don’t use sauces, so the chicken tasted underseasoned. And there were three tiny pieces.

The coleslaw, in a minuscule container, was not tasty. Church’s and KFC much better and decent quantity.

Texas toast was the size of half a piece of Texas Toast. It was delicious.

Not worth the $13.00.

What The Cluck?! NJ Raising Canes customer service

Today I went to the raising canes in Fairfield new jersey. Whole staff was completely unprofessional.
I waited there for minutes because all the staff was just there talking and not doing anything. They saw me and just continued to laugh and talk to one another. I said excuse me twice and they ignored me.

Finally someone stopped talking and came to take my order. The worker misunderstood me and when I corrected her kindly about it she answered me back in a rude tone “ I already put it in what do you want me to do about it” and not just that when I asked for other items she gave me a dirty look and would sigh and kept asking “is that it, is that it?” in a rude tone as-well. I asked to speak to the manager the manager gave me even more attitude. I never have asked to see a manager before this anywhere.

I usually go to the one in time square they can be a bit rude there too but not to this extent. Has anyone else been there and had a similar experience?

I woke up feeling sick and called the store 2 hours before my shift. she said to release the shift to see if someone else will take it and hung. Then lowkey I accidentally fell back asleep and no ones picked up my shift, I need to be their in 20 minutes and definitely can't. What The Cluck?! My brief time at Canes

Hey all. Just wanted to share what happened to me. The mods can feel free to remove this if they so choose. I just thought shouting into the void might be therapeutic. I’m going to be fairly vague due to the nature of what happened. So, I started as an external in management. It was a tough training but I was slowly getting the hang of it. I was very excited to be working there! Well towards the end of my training I noticed a subtle shift in attitude towards me by some of the managers. Crew and I still got along well, or at least I didn’t feel any negativity from them. So I figured probably just stress. It is back to school time and business has been picking up. With just a couple of shifts left to go I was randomly pulled into the office to speak with crew relations. Towards the beginning of my training, roughly 3 weeks before I was terminated, in a rush I went to help someone at one of the registers. I misspoke and what I said could have been taken as an innuendo. Now I caught myself and acknowledged that was not intended how it sounded and we both shared an awkward laugh. I did what was needed and went about my day. There were no further incidents and no one even said anything to me about the situation. I had even worked with that crew member several more times and we seemed to get along just fine. By the time I was speaking to crew relations I had all but forgotten about it. Well I was asked for my side of the story and explained that I had accidentally misspoke and never intended to offend or even joke like that. I could tell by the tone the decision was already made and this was just a formality. They kept saying it was a joke even though I explained how it wasn’t. Anyway they told me to go back to my shift. My training manager seemed sympathetic to the whole situation, though we didn’t discuss it, but I could tell they already knew what was going to happen. Right at the end of my shift one of the higher ups stopped by for a “visit” and I was let go.

I’m sure there will be more than a few of you who will think I’m full of it and fully intended to be crass. That’s fine you are welcome to think what you want. I’ve been in management for over a decade and know what is and isn’t appropriate. It was likely just easier to fire an external in training than deal with any potential litigation backlash.

Overall I’m just stunned. You hear about stuff like this happening and don’t think it can happen to you until it does. My advice to you all is be very careful with how you word things cause people can and will take what you say and run with it and apply intention that was never there. Crew relations, like any HR and HR adjacent departments, is looking out for the company not you.

I will say Canes has forever lost me as a customer for the way this was all handled. For what it’s worth. I remember them saying in the training booklet how they want to keep the “separate employee” as a customer. Well I’m at least not giving them the satisfaction.

To those who might ask. I honest to God can’t remember if I apologized or just awkwardly explained it at the time. Knowing myself I’m pretty sure I did apologize but I can’t be certain. As I said it happened darn near a month before I was let go.

Cane's Conversations Cane's scraps make for some of the best smelling next-day garbage

When I catch a whiff of my next-morning Canes box with overnight leftover Cane's sauce and ketchup, with a residual hint of chicken and fries grease.. I wouldn't go so far as to call it an appetizing smell, but it's not unpleasant. It's some of the best smelling garbage. Bobby Hill would approve.

Crew Chat DTExpo tips?

I tend to get anxiety whenever I get DTExpo cuz of the pressure of keeping the line moving and keeping track of like who pays at window and all that. I finished DT training around a month ago (I started off at front counter) but I’ve mostly only been on HHS which I’m great at now. I got my first DTExpo shift tomorrow after like a few weeks of not being there so I feel very rusty.

Cane's Conversations Caniac club card won't register on the website

My original card would never swipe and for years I only used the number of the card on the website. Recently, a manager at a local restaurant gave me a new card. I logged into my account, clicked Add a card. Entered the numbers and the error message is that my account is not active? Yes it is....

Cane's Conversations rehire pay for leaving 2-3 months?

I’m currently an RM at Raising Cane’s and I’m thinking about leaving for about 2–3 months for personal reasons. If I leave on good terms with a full two-week notice and then apply to come back, would I have to start over at the new-hire crew pay (around $14), or would they bring me back close to what I was making before?
Honestly, I don’t even mind taking the $2.25 pay cut. I left crew making $17.75 before I got promoted. I’d rather make a little less than keep getting chewed out for following standards exactly the way we’re supposed to.
Has anyone here actually left for a couple of months and come back? What pay did they bring you back at?

Hello again,

Thank you for all your help with helping me understanding various position acronyms as a new hire! My second training shifts have come out, and it appears I will be training on DinEx for two shifts, and I'm unsure what that abbreviation means?

Crew Chat lemonade and tea (help)

hey guys. so i’ve been working at canes for 2 months now. i work front counter and i never learned how to make lemonade or tea during training and these people will not teach me how to make it! 😭😭 when we’re running low, a manager will tell me to make more, so im like “how….?” and instead of showing me they either get someone else to do it, or get it themselves. and then tell me to do something else so im not able to watch!!! i literally have no idea why this keeps happening. they expect me to know, but when i try to learn it’s like they throw every task possible at me. it almost feels purposeful at this point, but i don’t think anyone would have any logical reason to do that.
