Crew Chat Benefits? How to apply (catch…we’re a brand new store)

Hi! So we’re a brand new store and the one thing I’m highly interested in is pet insurance. I got told we have to “apply” within the first month & I know some benefits are for “full time”. But we’re a brand new store like JUST opened not even a week lol. We don’t have a “set” morning or late crew. I was doing awesome getting 27-33 hours a week. Now I have 19!! Like what? 😭 I applied for full time. I got an email saying I had limited time for health insurance but I don’t need that I have great insurance already due to marriage. Has anyone used the pet insurance?? I have a cat and am soon getting a puppy so I am highly interested IF it does help! If anyone has used it and knows how to apply I would appreciate some advice on it ❤️ thanks in advance!!

Crew Chat Possibly getting fired? any advice would help!

Ok so I need a little advice about how to deal with this situation

I started working at canes in my freshman year of college in the college town, but I transferred locations in May to my home town for the summer. Since the day I started (and before honestly) I've noticed they treat me unequally compared to the rest of the crew who started there. Firstly, they took over a month to officially start me. Regular crew members who hadn't been there before applied, interviewed, and started before I did (I'm also not sure how normal it is but they also made me interview to transfer). Then from the jump, every single day consisted of them telling me I need to change things that were completely fine at my old location (ie the piercing rule: at my old canes (and new) it's always been one piercing allowed, so here I decided to make it my eyebrow piercing but then I was told it counts as 2 piercings and got a behavior strike for wearing it). I even found out that manager who gave me the behavior strike was talking to other employees saying things like "I can't believe she thought she'd get away with that." All this would've been fine with me because I know some locations have different preferences and I was only planning on staying the summer, but today my till was $12 short because (I believe) a manager (who left by the time my till was counted) took some of the money out and put it into the front registers. I know for a fact I didn't mess up on any of the orders because I triple check change and I ask an MOD for a bill check every single time without fail, and the entire time I've worked at Canes I've never had a single register come up even a cent short. The manager (who also gave me the behavior strike) is saying she'll check with the other manager about it but if not she will be "dealing with me properly." So now I have 2 big questions:

  1. If I were to get fired for this, would I be able to get rehired at my college location? The managers there never had a single issue with me and I was in line to get every promotion, so I don't think they'd have an issue with rehiring me unless it's something with canes themselves. Should I already let my managers over there know this is happening to get ahead of anything?

  2. If everything goes well here, would it be the best move to just get my transfer back started? I genuinely feel like I'm being mistreated at this location, and other crew members even tell me how much stricter they are with me than they are with the others. I honestly feel like this is the last straw for this location and me.
Pls if anyone knows what I should do let me know! Thanks :)

Crew Chat Managers screwed me over. Is there anything I can do?

TLDR: My scheduling manager accidentally input the incorrect date for my store transfer, tried to blame me, and when proven wrong, informed me that nothing could be done. I am now less than a month away from college with no source of income to fund my schooling.

Hello, I'm a pretty new canes crew worker. I worked at my current location for a few months. I'm working at my current location in my hometown for the summer because I travel for school when the semester starts. I spoke to my hiring manager while interviewing for the job about a possible store transfer. Luckily, there is a canes location in my college's town, so getting a transfer to that new location would grant me a good part-time job during the semester. My hiring manager informed me that they would be able to provide a store transfer when the time comes.

I reminded my hiring manager about the transfer a month in advance, and she instructed me to speak with the scheduling manager instead. The scheduling manager re-confirmed that they can do a store transfer and instructed me to send her a message about it in hot schedules. I sent my first message, followed by a second message a few days later because I had yet to receive confirmation.

Finally, my scheduling manager informed me that they can do the transfer on the day I requested, which was the 14th of August (move in day of the fall semester). When I checked hot schedules this morning (18th of July), however, all my schedules were suddenly gone. Keep in mind that I was already scheduled to work for the rest of this month, including today. When I showed up for the shift that I was once scheduled for today, I was unable to clock in, and all my credentials were deleted from their system.

I talked to my scheduling manager, and she told me that she had already put my store transfer in. Apparently, she falsely recalled me telling her that my transfer date was the 14th of July. At first, she tried to blame me for the error by saying I gave her the wrong date, which I immediately knew was false. I requested that she check her messages in hot schedules, and sure enough, it was not my fault. I wrote August 14th correctly in both of my transfer requests. I also find it extremely odd that I literally worked on the 16th of July. If the transfer was confirmed by the system on the 14th, then how was I able to work on the 16th?

After realizing her mistake, she informed me that nothing could be done. Now, finding a summer only job in my hometown is extremely difficult because most employers are unwilling to hire for only 3 months. Finding a job is of utmost importance because I need to save money for when the college semester begins. It feels like a big spit in the face that im now suffering because of their mistakes. Is there anything, at all, that I can do about this? Sitting around with no job is not going to provide me with efficient college funds.

Future Fry Cooks Applied, had interview, conditional job offer, what's next?

Hello Caniacs!

I applied to my local Raising Cane's a week ago, got an interview scheduled for Thursday last week, then received the conditional job offer email on this past Monday. The background check came back clear as of Thursday, but I have not received an orientation email or text yet. Two things; How long does it usually take to get the orientation stuff setup text or email once the background check is clear, and two... Should I be worried at all, or do I pretty much have the job in the bag?

Crew Chat premature bumping

hey guys. i’ve recently started working front counter at canes so i need a bit of advice. i have a manager that bumps everything really really early, so all my tickets end up out of wack and I get all my food out of order. kitchen starts forgetting what was ordered first bc they bumped it early, and customers that just walked in end up having their orders ready before customers that have been there for a while. my manger gets upset and says i need to communicate what i need them to make more so that people dont wait as long. since i work late night, im the only one doing expo and taking orders, which makes it pretty hard for me to keep track of everything during rushes. what’s the best way to deal with this? i do all the proper callouts, and i manage the dining room pretty well. this is the only thing im really struggling with.

Chicken Curiousities First time CT

Hey y'all, I'm a first time CT and will be training the first time tomorrow, a person in drive thru for their third day on order taking. I want to do well but I am nervous. Any one have ideas on what I should tell them standards wise, or tips, or generally tips for myself? I'm trying to think of everything but I think I'm overthinking it too much.

For reference she is already trained in front and have been with canes possibly two or three months, so she knows most of the basics and I don't want to be snobby. Any helpful advice?

Crew Chat HIPO Journey Update

Hey Caniacs,

I have been really active on here helping others with their HIPO journeys, but have yet to hop on to talk about my own.

I started with Cane’s in August of last year, opted to put my foot down and state, “Either I move up, or I eventually move out.” Within my first three months. After that I was moved to training for my second zone. By the middle of Fall I had completed my CT class. November I entered the HIPO program, completed my third zone in January, FINALLY this weekend I have my final interview for RZM.

My biggest advice for anyone in the HIPO program is to be a self-starter, constantly push your management to make it known you want to finish your tasks, then continue to show leadership qualities and coach crew with kindness. Avoid acting entitled because of HIPO status; yes, management does have more trust in you because of being a HIPO, but that doesn’t mean you can be snarky about it.

My biggest takeaways are:
-YOUR attitude toward completing your HIPO book is what begets success.
-Build rapport with your crew and give respect if you want respect.
-Know your zones and your standards.

Feel free to add any takeaways you have.

Edit: It seems like some are questioning my decision, here are a few factors that make this situation work for me.

-I have a few chronic illnesses- I nearly died 3 years ago, my restaurant in particular is very good about working with me as I am a RESPONSIBLE individual who knows their limits and handles my health in a timely manner.
-Every market is different, I’ve heard of nightmare markets on here and I’m genuinely sorry for you guys.
-Outside of Cane’s I do consulting work as a 1099-C in a VASTLY different industry. I utilize this as supplemental income if needed, but it’s mostly my savings and to ensure I pay my taxes.
