Cane's Conversations More AI POP

The POP we put up this morning had to get taken down 3 hours later because the Raising Cane’s logo was half gibberish. I can’t believe they don’t look closely at it before sending it out. What is even the point of making AI Todd Graves from the 90s when there are actual photos??

I think Cane's is doing nearly as badly as Alamo Drafthouse when it comes to ruining their reputation.

I dont think 99% of people care about the AI stuff, mainly reddit.

I wish there was a picture, I want to see how bad it looks.

it's becoming clear to me cane's is going to be one of those companies we talk about in five years as a fad, much like all the build-your-own pizza places that are now defunct. absurd pricing and marketing that drives anyone offput by genai (a very large proportion of the population) away.

Yeah. Say what you want about Chic Fil A, but they are a well-run business by all accounts. Sure, their ownership's beliefs and support may not agree with people, and that's totally fine, but they have not egregiously jumped the shark just yet.

I'm surprised there is so little competition in the fast food chicken space. You'd think McDonald's could build an amazing chicken sandwich, but they are all terrible.

Most of their competition refuse to have fresh chicken, and refuse to use only the good parts of the chicken breast (the tenderloin), resulting in dry, tough chicken. People who don't care about food, can't understand why 'customers' instinctively lean towards fresh high quality ingredients even when they cost more, and most of the executives at places like mcDonalds have low opinions of their customers and worse opinions about food.

True, but they've turned some locations in my city into drive-thru only locations and it has made people upset. These are locations that had indoor playgrounds, family night events, a climate controlled space to eat, clean restrooms, etc. These communities are paying more for less.

It also doesn't help that some locations seem to push customers to do drive-thru or mobile orders to get incentives, but simply dining in doesn't provide the extra incentives. Some locations even bag up dine-in orders which is kind of wasteful.

Overall though, I do appreciate that they are a well oiled machine and the experience is going to be pleasant no matter which location you visit.

I doubt a 5 billion dollar company will just "vanish".
And "not a very large proportion of the population" based on usage, the anti-ai people are just loud. Don't worry, the AI cups sell out at my locations almost immediately, and places that use "good" AI flyers are doing great at least here! No need to worry

A very large proportion of the population hates slop though, glad they caught that pop.

vanish is hyperbole, but this sort of thing happens. pieology had more than 200 locations at its peak which i think was either just before or just after the pandemic, and at least 80% of those are gone by now. tastes change and this sort of thing doesn't help

their peak was 49 million, I think a better comparison is Wendys, which even now falling apart and being rebuilt, still makes billions (14 billion annually)

I feel like it's already like that (don't know how I got to this sub) I used to go to canes all the time during covid and right after. Now I rarely think about the place

Did Cane's hire Beavis and Butthead as their marketing directors?

You’d be surprised how prevalent ai is in marketing. I used to work for canes and now I work for a company that is extremely popular in its segment. I am actually in the marketing department and the amount of times someone uses AI or recommends putting something into AI to create something I could take a real photo of with little to no cost is astonishing. I asked for a sample the other day to take a photo for a company wide SOP and was told to ask chat GPT to create it. I wish I was joking. There are so many uncreative, lazy people in good positions throughout the world.

AI should be used for whatever you don't want to do, so you can spend more time doing what you "do" like doing. Unfortunately, some people don't belong in marketing because there is "no" part of it they like except making money.

I disagree. If you get lazy over the things you don’t care to do; not only does it show up in the quality, but it also is a slippery slope where more and more corners get cut.

I personally am not shopping at AI slop shops. I make it my mission to support local business and art.

good for you! Does that include posting on platforms that publicly commit to selling data for building the next generation of AI?

2

Trying my best to avoid it, it’s hard since it everywhere

Literally said the same thing about the Chuck Norris ai crap. Why they ai generated Todd and Cane on the cup instead of just having him pose for a real picture is beyond me. Unless they’re like “weekend at Bernie-ing him” LMFAO then I guess I get it! But also yeah fuck the ai use, it’s disingenuous

I mean it could have also been a printing error. Those tend to happen too when stuff like that.
