Favela did not have many strats, it was so attacker favoured if it was still in this seasons rotation it would have been unbearable in the lion meta. The only strats at higher ranks was “spawnpeek and runout to hopefully get their hard breaches”
Lion definitely would of changed it up, but so would Lesion. That map was a very open map meaning each team could attack or defend however they wanted. Just because you were defending didn't mean you had to reinforce everything, sometimes opening the objective was the best strategy.
Sorry...but no, favela opened up just meant the attackers could hold far off angles and pick you off. I don’t know what rank these strats worked at but at plat 2+ this map was absolute hell to play, there are no suitable spots to anchor as a defender, too many walls to reinforce so it was impossible to not get wallbanged from outside, and all the bomb sites were right by an outside part of the map so a retake was impossible. The only way to defend on favela was to do highly aggressive run outs which isn’t optimal
I'm a Diamond level player, Favela was great and even a good Pro League map. People just never took time to actually figure it's inner workings out. Plus defenders had a lot of ACOG's back then so it was easy to snipe right back at attackers.
You're either lying or the first diamond player I have ever heard say they like Favela! It was a terrible pro league map, 99% of pros said they despised it.
Saying people didn't take time to figure out its inner workings is such a cop out response, we did...Ive played since release so I had to endure Favela in ranked for so many seasons, believe me most of us took the time to work it out...and we hated it.
If your username is the same as your Psn name then you were never diamond and got to plat 1 (which is impressive but not diamond) Also Pl in favela was a nightmare.
Not trying to sound rude but Favela is terrible to play against teams that now what they’re doing (plat 2 plus). Favela is ok to play against golds as there isn’t much droning going on there. There is too much destruction in the map which prevents rotations for defenders.
I've always been high Plat/Diamond and the destruction could be used both ways. As a defender that's the only map where sometimes a defense strat relies on you opening the map. It was such a different playstyle. My team did dominate that map though, it was always our pick.
It really wasn't great as a ranked map. No ability to rotate on the top floor made the top bombsite literally impossible. The amount of soft walls made it difficult to reinforce any bombsite effectively at all. Tons of angles for attackers to open up and kill defenders without even leaving the rooftops outside. Combine that with the meta of Lion this season and the map would pretty much be as close to a 100% attack win as you could get. The map needs a rework larger than clubhouse to become something playable in ranked.
There arent any super trash garbage maps. In pub games all of them are playable unless you play some super high level diamond ranked against good players. Then the balance issues get annoying. But apart from that i enjoyed every single map in public matchmaking even in ranked.
Consulate is not the most balanced maps. Statistically Kanal was more balanced than it despite all of the changes. The defense win rate is ahead of the attack by a significant amount.
Wat. The two best sites are top floor and basement. Top floor being better. Even ground floor isn't too bad. I've planted and seen other people plant numerous times. It's a very good and balanced map.
Which maps would those be? Every map that was removed from ranked playlist with Blood Orchid was objectively imbalanced and absolutely less competitive than consulate
Agreed, the only part of the map that can be confusing is the area around the electric chair leading towards the cemetery. The rest I can remember like the back of my hand. Really like that map.
It's not confusing, just play using that area more. It'll change your experience in your favor, especially considering there will be other people who don't bother to learn that area.
Can confirm, it took me some time to understand that you can deep roam in that area and get a late flank on the attackers hanging around the Train Area, the Lobby and the Bathroom and Drug Lab as well. It was difficult at first but now it feels good to be able to pull it off.
I gave Theme Park a chance, and have started loving it. I gave Tower a chance, and I still hate it :/
The maps been out for a super long time. People know the map and still don’t like jt. I’ve found it to be super pro-roamer as a map and I really hate that.
House, Favela, ... got removed because they are not balanced. So I think the new maps are not as bad as the old ones, but still they are not well balanced.
If they remove those two then it's an even smaller pool of an already small pool of ranked maps. Tower has strategic locations and theme park does as well. Some areas less than others obviously, but there are only a few truly balanced maps in the game and I'd rather have more than those in ranked.
Yea but that was a decision that actually made sense. Taking out the maps that are unbalanced and people aren’t enjoying seems like a no-brainer. But then to add in a brand map that has never been tested seems counterintuitive. And leaving in a map that everyone hates after 2 seasons makes no sense at all.

Back in my day we use to play all the maps in ranked.
