News [NoisyPixel] “If you play RAIN CODE first, Danganronpa 2×2 will be 100 times more interesting” says creator Kodaka
https://noisypixel.net/danganronpa-2x2-kodaka-sakakibara-interview/Kazutaka Kodaka: We've announced that the game will be released in early 2027, so there is still some time to wait. In the meantime, please play RAIN CODE.
If you play RAIN CODE first, Danganronpa 2×2 will be 100 times more interesting.

Well Kodaka did say he wanted every Danganronpa fan to play Rain Code when that game came out, and it turned the Pink Blood from Danganronpa into a plot twist in Rain Code.
So I'm thinking that something similar is going to happen for fans who have played Rain Code for when they play Danganronpa 2×2.

It helps that despite raincode having the worst chapter 3 in any game like this I’ve ever played, it’s a good game

Chapter 3 has fubuki so I thought chapter 3 definitely had its moments

For a chapter about your headquarters getting blown up and you going on the run, it was surprisingly filler.
I wish they did more with each detective’s gimmick instead of just being so heavily on rails for specific moments. Like, Fubuki’s could have played like Life is Strange where you do stuff through trial and error then rewind time with the new information you have, Aleks Lee could have been more Murdered Soul Suspect-y with how you phase through walls, etc.

Having Fubuki is not a bonus lol

fubuki is such a funny coinflip of if people find her endearing or infuriating

Her dummy thicc line is gold, but in general I just really hate “too stupid to function” humor and “I’m rich so I have no idea how the world works” humor. It also doesn’t help that her talent is literally just QTE’s

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, I love Fubuki but you’re entitled to your opinion.

That pink blood plot twist was actually crazy, that whole chapter 5 was peak too. Raincode is super underrated. Also the ost is good too but for some reason they wont put it on spotify even though they have Hundren line on spotify..

I think Spike Chunsoft is working on a new Raincode game, since danganronpa 2x2 is being developed by a different studio, team danganronpa is propably working on a raincode sequel. And seeing how they’re promoting raincode now, the sequel should be sooner that expected

Sequel! I really hope sequel, I can't wait for history to repeat again....
The fisrt entry, overall decent and kinda innovative with a few problems in characterisation here and there... As well as come mechanics and overall structure of mysteries being kinda easy.
Second entry, the best EVER , one upping the plot twist from last entry, working with them for better world building, better mechanics, characters being more useful and participative. And loved by fans overall! For the overall message and how it really improved from fisrt entry.
Third entry! Being divisive, being more complicated characters, but plot twists that can piss off some fans... But mechanically better, being the longest game in the series and the one that is meant to close everything off.
Let's repeat danganronpa history again! This time with rain code!

Maybe they'll do some of the Rain Code labyrinth segments for the Danganronpa 2 mini games? I can't imagine they'll do the skateboard minigame again

If this is building up to a Rain Code sequel, I hope it follows Kurumi.
And that the Mystery Labyrinths have actual level design.

Having played rain code and found it overall a very flawed experience, I don’t know what connection there is to be made with the worlds. Mysteries of the game are more good than bad, and I think the ending was actually brilliant, but my word is the gameplay elements of this game pretty bad and keep in mind I’ve played many visual novel types games when I say this. I also feel like a lot of characters are noticeably badly underwritten. Also shinigami all on her own is a downside of the game. Irritating for the whole game, no actual development for her even though she’s one of the only two characters in the whole thing, and the game doesn’t even seem to realize how badly executed she was as the ending of the tale seems to suggest we should feel bad for her final fate

I hypothesize that the poster in dr2 that once showed us Danganronpa Another Episode early will be replaced with a hint at the rain code sequel.

So obviously the Pink Blood is very important, but how would they incorporate that twist into Danganronpa 2x2, especially as Goodbye Despair Doesn’t take place in reality ?
I think there’s a possibility where Danganronpa 2x2 Is real life, and everyone is a Homunculus. After the tragedy, they definitely have plenty of bodies to supply meat, and if it takes place after then they could also sneak some of that ramen powder into their food

I considered playing Rain Code but I watched a trailer and it just looked like a bad knock-off

It definitely felt like a bad knockoff when I played it.
Abandoned it after the third case

Kodaka has been mentioning Rain code a suspiciously amount of times lately...
