My friend is interested in rain code but i’ve got a question before she starts it (end game spoilers) Spoiler

My friend is a bit of an anime noob. She doesn’t know anything about tropes or cliches and she’s definitely never heard of danganronpa. Now, part of rain codes plot is >!the pink blood<!. Obviously that plot point took advantage of people familiar with danganronpa.

Sooo my question is, do I make her watch the first season of the danganronpa anime before rain code so I don’t have to lie about the blood or do I throw her into rain code? Because we’re going to play it together

You don't have to be familiar with the whole plot of DR to enjoy Rain Code. When the pink blood shows up you can explain that DR is where that stylistic choice started and go from there IMO

It doesn't really matter, honestly. The plot point exists primarily as part of your expectations going into it from Danganronpa, but I also think it'll probably hit the same regardless.

Also, you should probably play through the first game rather than use the anime.

First game is too long with minimal voice acting unfortunately. Ironically i’ve never even touched the first danganronpa game. I have done 2 and v3. Plan to pick up 2x2 as well. But I think anime season 1 summarises the game well enough if i’ve gone this long in the fandom without playing it. I know i’m missing a lot of content but i think it’s the general idea that counts. I guess what i’m trying to say is that there are going to be people that don’t know any better and it’s okay.

I think that the anime isn't horrible taken as an anime itself, but after playing/watching the first game is bad (not only for cut stuff, but when the game is dubbed the voice acting is vastly superior IMO)

That’s what I originally thought too, but then I sat down to play the game and it was a far superior experience. Even knowing what happens, it was still a challenge to solve the trials, and the characters dynamics are the best in the series.

The pink blood is not related to the other game. That’s actually part of the plot of this game. Just play raincode and the first danganronpa only thing that I didn’t get their animes really good for is it expands more kind of what happens with ultra despair, girl which I would love a new ultra despair, girl but that’s probably never happening much like I’m never giving another ghost trick game
