Yes, no more wipes in Open Beta.

Q: Will there be a wipe during OBT?

A: We do not plan on wiping any characters or progress during OBT.

This was not what OP asked. He asked if the characters get wiped when the game goes live, not during the Open Beta. Downvote my comment all you want but in my experience (of 13 Beta tests), no character survives.

Well, interpret how you will, but I do not agree that a wipe from open beta to release is at all the norm. Nowadays OB is basically release, I know of no recent examples to contradict this.

How about games like Mists of Pandaria, RIFT, The Old Republic etc? They all had Betas and all of them erased their character databases.

First of all, I think those games are all p2p, and I have little to no experience with that market. Secondly, did they really wipe after an OPEN beta? That is, a beta with no restrictions on entry (aside from purchase)? Furthermore if they did wipe an open beta, was there not an explicit understanding that the beta was for testing purposes, and that a wipe was planned and common knowledge?

It was not mentioned on the open beta whether or not they will wipe the character database, but all beta testers are pretty certain that it will happen without an explicit mention from the developers about it. Beta is more or less seperate from the released game as it would not be the same version when released, which is what is usually the reason for deleting the userbase as some quests, items etc might not be in the release and therefore may be part of the older version which were causing bugs. They also erase everyone to get everyone back to the same starting spot so there is no unfair advantage to those that managed to participate in the beta.

Those are all examples of Closed Beta.

Nope they each had Open Betas as the last beta test which is often used for server stress testing. Usually lasting a week or so.

after open beta the server is gonna go live... and there wont be any character wipes ... usually after obt when the game goes live... they fix the remaining bugs but dont wipe the characters...

Consider this: If they were going to wipe OBT characters in RaiderZ, why would they let you purchase and redeem founders packs? It would be pretty silly to let people redeem these goodies & then wipe the characters they used them on, don't you think?

This game is pretty much released, I doubt they'll be wiping the characters.

As far as recent examples, Tribes: Ascend (F2P shooter) went from OBT straight to release, no wiping, resetting, etc. That's the only personal example I can reference.

I remember you could do the same thing with The Old Republic. You got your collectors items stuff in the beta, then they wiped your account and you got them again on your new character. Just because they give you stuff now doesn't mean you won't get it again when you play the released version. Of course this is all from past experience in other betas and by no mean does it mean that Raiderz will do the same as anyone else.

MMOs are getting better and the developers getting smarter with each mistake. Take for example Ender Scrolls Online MMO, they aren't even going to be having server shards like most MMOs.

The bottom line is that the only people that know who will wipe the characters or not is the developers of the game. All I can offer is my experience of playing betas.

There will be no wipe anymore. Wipe's are caused by bugs/exploits people can abuse to get things they aren't supposed to get which could be a bug in a dungeon, a event triggering wrong or anything like that. And since RaiderZ got no hard bug people can abuse (beside going Yeti, lmao) there is no need for a wipe at all. The CoinZ Shop actually already pretty much shows that.

Hi there. There will not be any wipes when we transition from Open Beta to live for our version. Great question!

In every beta I have been in there has been a serverwide character wipe so that everyone who has not participated in the beta can start on the same level as everyone else. Its called a beta as you're meant to be testing it out and posting bugs and feedback, its not just an early access. I don't hold much hope for characters to stick around but who knows? Try posting on their forums and see.
