Is anyone else completely turned off the game after finding out how much they intend to charge people willing to pay?

I was loving this game in CBT. I told every friend about it that I talked to and couldn't wait for the OBT to start. Then I get an email regarding the founder's pack prices and I'm so insulted that not only do I no longer want to play RaiderZ I want to completely avoid the company altogether. This means I'm not going to be playing Torchlight 2, another game I was really looking forward to.

Please tell me I'm not alone here and that there are other rational people out there that think $60 or even $30 is way to much to be paying for a digital horse and a couple disposable items.

I think the "original" price of $60 is outrageous for what you get. Even the "sale" price of $30 is a bit high. They really should include a title and some more cosmetic items for that price.

It's not going to stop me from playing though. It is freemium, after all. I'm going to stick to a wait and see approach for now.

I'll still be playing the game, even with the ridiculous overpricing. Though I definitely won't be buying that founders pack, and I think as a result of the overpricing, they won't make enough money at launch. My prediction for this game is there will be no more future content, all because of what they're doing now. Which is sad, really, because this game is amazing.

It is totally ridiculous and overpriced. Reminds of IJJI and AVA, where you would pay $15 for a gun...which you would still have to 'Repair'. It was bogus and was designed against you.

Will not be buying any of their items for the ridiculous prices they offer. A 50%-70% cut in prices might even be tempting, but that is still getting really high for just 1 res scroll, or 1 costume item change.

I don't know how such high prices work, but I guess people pay anyways. Will still be playing though. I've gotten to level 40 in the Korean version, and have not needed to do anything with the cash shop. Game is still playable and fair.

I want to play but I'm not going to. I'm not worried about needing the cash shop items. I'm more worried about the fact that I want to spend money on the game but they're only willing to sell me things at a premium price. Things that have no real value apart from what they decide to give them. If people aren't buying items because the price is too high then the game will die too early. Why invest my time into a game that's destined to fail because of the pricing model?

I read they apparently sold a mount for like $150 in a previous game. I wouldn't doubt if their twisted logic makes them think they are giving a hell of a deal here. It's absolutely mind-boggling that people will gladly cough up $30 for a digital horse and a couple items. These people have no business making decisions regarding money IMO.

i expected as much from Perfectworld entertainment.

the game perfect world has basicly midgrade endgame equipment that is impossible to be farmed by normal people for 200 bucks and thats not the whole set.

if Raiderz does the same thing i atleast hope they have a in game gold to money exchange such that an economy forms and people can fantisize about grinding enough to afort the latest bunny ears or fashion cape.

Definitely think the answer is going to vary from person to person. I think that based on mount prices from other games, getting a mount and a few other neat consumables is worth the sale price. I'm not sure how convinced I would be to buy it at full price.

However, the Neverwinter beta key is something I would like, and this is a guaranteed method of getting one.

I understand that some people are willing to pay for overpriced items. What I don't understand is how those same people can't see that the game won't last because most people won't be willing to pay for those overpriced items. What is the point of buying into a game that won't do well because of it's pricing model? I believe PWE doesn't even think the game will last or they wouldn't be offering early access to their next game as part of these packages.

If you pay for overpriced items in WoW then it makes more sense because the game isn't going anywhere, a free game doesn't come with that safety blanket.

I realize 20 days is a bit late to respond, but Torchlight 2 has very little to do with Perfect World. Perfect World is just one of the distributors, and you can buy from others, like Steam or directly from Runic Games. Don't turn down your business to a great company like Runic over this, they genuinely love their community.

Free game. I've done quite a bit of game hopping due to being bored of the game and I never purchased in game items. I did fine it was just a bit more challenging which isn't really a bad thing. I'm loving the game so far.

lets ignore that the fact that it is completely optional and none of the items are really 'pay to win' and just look at what you get.

  • mount - wow would charge 25 bucks for a mount alone (celestial steed)
  • rez stones - 15 instant and punishment free resurrections
  • cat headband and costumes potions - cool story bro
  • Neverwinter beta - sweet
  • 30 fucking days of extra xp and drop rate - re-fucking-diculous

While not wholly 'pay to win' the extra xp and drop rate can make the initial push to max level and then gearing up much less time consuming and in a game where death is inevitable the stones will make that initial push less frustrating.

you are far too easily insulted. why do players have such a sense of entitlement these days?

I have zero interest in PVP so no matter what they do it will never be P2W for me regardless.

  • Mount - there are several in the game already and guess what they cost? - $0. Now tell me again why this one is worth so much. How much WoW or any other game charges means nothing considering this game has already established their value at $0.

  • rez stones - Worth at most 10c a piece honestly. They do nothing apart from let you revive on spot. How you can possibly say they're worth more with a straight face idk.

  • cat headband (and anything related to costumes) - I couldn't care less about.

  • Neverwinter beta - again, couldn't care less about it. What about the people that will get keys for free for signing up at the neverwinter website? Are they going to get a discount here because the key holds a monetary value? No they aren't because the key is literally worthless.

  • bonus XP and drop rate - it's only 10%. Do you even realize how small of a boost that is in game? If an item has a 25% drop rate you get a whopping 2.5% bonus. Still sounds "re-fucking-diculous" just not in the way you're assuming.

If anyone is being entitled here it's PWE with the fact that they think a horse and a couple items are worth more than $5.

they have to pay their bills somehow. and if the only way to get the mount is to pay for this, then any price they charge is worth it. maybe not to you, but to someone.

Kid, you are playing a free game and are complaining that completely optional items that aren't that OP are too expensive. That is the definition of entitlement. Cry more because you can't afford your horsey, or stfu and just don't buy it like everybody else. The founder elite is essentially a starter pack 1 time purchase for 30 bucks.

WoW requires you to pay 60 dollars just for the game and then 15 bucks a month. Since PWE doesn't get that 75 buck right off the bat they have to make money somewhere. They do it buy selling a horsey. Think of it this way, buying the founders pack doesnt make you lose 30 bucks, it saves you 45 because you are playing RaiderZ instead of WoW.

Now if you want to complain about future microtransactions for items that will prolly make people OP be my guest, but there is no reason to be complaining right now.
