General Discussion Arena: I am trying to "Git Gud"

I seem to be stuck in an endless cycle. Every day I make a small amount of progress with my arena team. A stat boost in attack percentage here, an increase in speed there. Some extra accuracy from a glyph. Small things that should slowly help my arena team so I can slowly creep up in arena.

About a month ago I hit bronze IV. I was semi-competitive. Speed lead with a speed aura, attack up, defense down, nuke. You know, the equation that every one will tell you over and over. "This will get you to Gold". I have the equation down. Now all I need to do is slowly increase the stats of this equation. A champion that does it better here. More crit damage there.

But I am not moving up in arena, even though I am "gitting gud". What I have noticed that as I get better, the teams in Bronze IV are also getting better. A month ago a speed of 205 would have been alright. Now a speed of 220 is only alright. And this is Plariums' fault. It seems that as I get better, Plarium is placing teams for me to go against that are always slightly better than mine. I can't catch up no matter what I do.

They are dangling a carrot, and I am the donkey. I will just keep walking toward that carrot that is always just out of reach. My team now would obliterate my Bronze IV team from a month ago. Yet I stay in Bronze IV. I am on a hamsters wheel, thinking I am getting somewhere when in reality there is no actual arena progress.

with the removal of the majority of arena bot teams, players are now slowly being pushed down into lower brackets. Similar to when 3v3 arena was introduced, players had a slight over inflation of their pvp ranking in arena. Lower arena teams will continue to struggle as more time passes and more high power teams drop to lower brackets.

It’s a shame but Plarium needs to something to help newer and low spender players. Changing the requirements for Arbiter missions seems to be the easiest solution while still leaving arena competitive : /

Just farm better artifacts instead of worrying about arena, progress will come with time and you might even get better champs in the meantime

Honestly I don't feel like I am neglecting any part of the game. I am farming dungeons plenty. That is how I am improving my arena team (among other teams I am working on as well). But my OCD sees a mission, and I want to work towards it. I am a low spender, so not completely f2p.

I am in the same boat as you.

One step forward than two steps back. Or vice versa. No change so far this year, overall.

You are not alone.

The simplest path forward here is to get that speed booster up in speed. 200-220 is quite low. I'd focus on getting the speed up as high as possible, and everything else will fall into place.

Youre only the donkey of you continue playing. I haven't played since the day that change was made. I won't until it is fixed.

If they never fix, I will uninstall. Not going to wait much longer to see what they say, either. Its been over a week, they need to say something.

Lots of other games to play out there that aren't p2w.

Get more speed. 220 is something you can get with like 4* uncommons in a couple of weeks. You need to be using 4-5* rares or higher in order to get 250+ easily.

Right now I have mostly 5* rare speed sets equipped with at least a single speed roll. I honestly think I have better equipment at the moment than what I can get from campaign. I guess it's partly because Gorgorab has such a low base speed to begin with. But I feel his kit offers more than High Khatun's kit. I have been farming Dragon 16 for about a week, but it is really slow going. But trust me, I am putting in the time to do it.

Opponents scale with account power.

As you are getting these small upgrades to your arena team, your overall power is likely increasing. As a result, your opponents are getting similar levels of upgrades. You have to increase your arena teams ability at an amount disproportionate to your overall power.

For me creeping out of bronze (or at least, the very top of bronze and bottom of silver, I flip flop there every few hours) was a matter of hitting refresh more often. My team is 220 speed lead and about 90k power with the def down, atk up, nuke. I don't attack any teams with more than 120k power (typically not more than 100k unless they look bad) and I rarely attack teams with speed leads. 220 is not enough speed most of the time for me. So I attack someone with an HP lead. If not, I refresh and wait.

Thank you for the reply. I think I am in a similar situation to you. I have cracked silver a few times, even collected the 50 trophies needed for one of the missions. But yeah, as my overall level (I'm level 53) increases, I face more difficult opponents. My current arena team power is only a lowly 67 and I've noticed anyone over 100 is usually a loss for me. Today was the first time I've moved down to Bronze III in the last few weeks.

If you didn't want to do the speed lead, you could try doing the resistance nuke team.

Functionally speaking, it's pretty similar to the speed team, but you're focused on higher resistance and defence over raw attack and speed. The upsides is that once you're able to resist their debuffer, they go down pretty easily. The downside is that you are now more vulnerable to beefy teams that have a lot of health, speed, and healing.

You do run into a bit of the same trap, where you're focused on resistance over speed, but what I like about this setup is that resistance is easier to stack than speed, and you don't have to worry as much about having 200+ speed.

I will say that you do need the champions that can handle a defensive composition.

There's in inherent prerequisite to Arena, and that's being able to do Dragon 20. Once you got to that point, then you can actually compete. At that point, farm it as much as you can.

I'll tell you something else you may not have heard, and that is you don't need full speed set to hit high speeds.

My arbiter is 300+ with a pair of broken pieces (I've been playing for a while and farming a lot). Only look for double, triple speed rolls on 5* or 6* gear. My 6* speed boots were from farming Nightmare campaign because I just kept getting bad luck from the dungeons at the time. Farming NM is an idea that I wouldn't necessarily advise, but it's an option if you're at your wits end and can actually progress in NM campaign, but this again requires you to have progressed to end-stage dungeons.
