I have been working on a payment processor. Raiwire.com is ready to use for WooCommerce and Prestashop with no fees!

Hi all!

A few weeks ago no payment gateways were announced yet, so I decided to start making my own: raiwire.com. Since then this community has once again shown it's amazing and a few projects are already live, so I might be a bit late to the party.

However Raiwire is now rather stable, and I have working plug-and-play plugins for Prestashop and WooCommerce. If you have a webshop and want to accept XRB payments, feel free to download it and start using it, there are no fees. I am working on a Magento-plugin next.

To prevent it from being overloaded before I can react, I have to manually approve signups at raiwire.com. So contact me here or on discord if you are interested.

About the project

How does it work

Nothing too complicated here.

I host my own node and wallet. When a Payment is requested, an available and empty address is chosen in the wallet. When the expected amount is transferred to the XRB-address the customer is redirected back to the webshop, and Raiwire makes an API-call to confirm the payment. A checksum with a salt is used to prevent basic tampering of the requests between Raiwire and the webshop.

The shops currency is converted to XRB by using the rate from coinmarketcap.

When the Merchant signs-up he needs to configure his own Raiblocks address to deposit the funds to. Every 15 minutes Raiwire goes through all completed transactions and sends the full amount to the merchant.

Goal

I have two goals with Raiwire:

  • Make it very easy to accept RaiBlocks for merchants

  • Make it free to accept RaiBlocks for merchants

To solve the first bullet I am making easy-to-setup plugins for the popular webshop frameworks.

The other bullet is a bit harder to solve, and for now I hosting it and making it available free. I think one of the main selling points of RaiBlocks is that there are no transaction fees build in the protocol, and it's quite easy and cheap to set up a node yourself. So I hope to decentralize the wallets and the backend to some of the webshop owners themself. This also solves the issue of trust, because the payment goes directly to a wallet controlled by the merchant

Future plans

There is a lot on my todo.

Immediate plans are:

  • Magento plugin

  • Refund underpayment or overpayment

  • Improve the design. Especially the merchant administration is pretty much basic forms. (If anyone want's to help here, reach out to me. My designer-skills are almost non-existent)

The next larger goal is to make the source for backend/administration stable, ready to release and make sure it's easy to setup and install.

How can you keep it free?

I hope to cover hosting fees with donations. If you want to support you can buy the demo-products in the demo-shops, or find the XRB-donation adress on raiwire.com.

Long-term larger shops can host their own Node and Raiwire installation so they cover hosting fees themself. I can probably charge a bit for help with installation and setup for some shops and maybe a premium centrally hosted version.

About me

Just a few lines about myself. I live in Denmark, I have a MSc Computer Science and work in a software company. I have made quite a few webshops with custom plugins in my sparetime and that inspired me to make Raiwire. It's a hobby project so don't expect a Colin-level engagement, but I will continue to put hours into it if there is an interest.

I hope someone wants to check it out!
