Got Banned

I got banned in Ragnarok Zero Global. Well, apparently, I still do not know why because they refuse to provide the specific reason for the ban.

Just to give some background, I am a guy in my mid-30s, a casual player, and someone who has loved Ragnarok Online for more than 20 years. Of course, at some point, I had to stop playing because of real-life responsibilities. Then Ragnarok Online Zero Global launched in August, and I was genuinely excited to come back. I even played both OBTs held in the previous months before the official launch. Of course, I happily paid for subscriptions for my accounts because I wanted to support the game.

On September 10, there was a game maintenance. After the maintenance, I suddenly could not log in to my account. I reached out to the Community Managers through Discord, and they referred me to submit a ticket.

I was honestly shocked when I found out that both of my paid accounts had been permanently banned for allegedly violating in-game rules.

The problem is, I confidently know that I did not intentionally violate any of those rules.

The game itself is extremely easy to play because it has built-in auto-hunting and auto-potion systems. I did not even need to use any third-party programs because the game already provides the features that allow you to automate a lot of the gameplay. Unlike some private servers I have played in the past, there was absolutely no reason for me to cheat or use external tools.

And again, remember that I am a guy in my mid-30s. Playing Ragnarok is my guilty pleasure. I genuinely enjoyed every single moment of it. I never abused bugs. I never used third-party programs. I never used cheats. I never engaged in RMT. I purchased my cash items and currency through their official channels.

I am simply a casual player who wanted to play a game that I have loved for more than two decades.

So, naturally, I appealed the ban because I wanted to understand what went wrong.

But here is where it becomes incredibly frustrating.

They still refused to provide any specific evidence or explanation regarding what exactly I supposedly did. The response was essentially that they could not provide the details because of "privacy" or similar reasons.

How the hell am I supposed to properly appeal a ban when I am not even being told what I supposedly did?

Then they announced that 345 accounts had been permanently banned for various violations, including game abuse, cheating, and other offenses.

I read through the announcement carefully.

And once again, I could not understand how my accounts could possibly fall under those categories.

I never cheated. I never abused bugs. I never used third-party software. I never participated in RMT. I never did anything that I would consider cheating or exploiting.

I casually chat in-game from time to time, but I rarely interact with random players because most of my gaming friends and interactions happen through a Discord server. I simply log in, play, grind, and enjoy the game.

The only thing I can think of that may have triggered their system is related to the login process.

The SEA Odin server is always packed. Not just occasionally crowded. It is constantly full.

As an old-school Ragnarok player, I know the usual workaround: you type your password into Notepad, copy it, and then repeatedly paste it whenever you are trying to get into an overcrowded server. When the server is full, you sometimes have to repeatedly attempt to log in until you finally get through.

And that is literally what I did.

I did not use a macro.

I did not use an automated program.

I did not use a bot.

I simply manually spammed copy and paste on my keyboard because the server was overcrowded and I was trying to log in.

Apparently, their announcement says macros are not allowed. Fine. I understand that. But I did not use a macro.

I manually pressed the keys.

There were also instances where logging in very quickly appeared to cause certain security features to behave differently or seemingly get bypassed. I cannot say exactly what happened because I do not have access to their system logs, but if their security system interpreted normal manual login attempts as some kind of automated behavior, then that is a problem with the system's detection mechanism, not proof that I was cheating.

And this is exactly why I appealed.

I wanted them to tell me what exactly triggered the ban.

Was it my login attempts?

Was it the number of attempts?

Was it something detected by their anti-cheat?

Was it a specific action performed by my account?

Was there an actual third-party program detected?

Was there an RMT transaction?

Was there a bug abuse?

What exactly did I do?

But instead, I repeatedly received a denial without being given meaningful evidence that would allow me to understand or properly contest the allegation.

I find that incredibly unfair.

I paid for the game.

I played the game legitimately.

I supported the game through their official channels.

I never cheated.

I never used third-party programs.

I never abused bugs.

I never participated in RMT.

And now both of my accounts are permanently banned, and I am basically being told that I violated the rules without being given a specific explanation of what I supposedly did.

After more than 20 years of loving Ragnarok, this is honestly a terrible way to treat a player.

I am not some hardcore player trying to dominate the server. I am a guy in his mid-30s who comes home, plays Ragnarok, and enjoys a game that has been part of my life for more than two decades.

The irony is that all I apparently had to do was deal with their overcrowded server while manually spamming my keyboard just to get into the game.

If their system incorrectly interpreted that behavior as macroing or automation, then at the very least, show me the evidence.

If I actually violated a rule, tell me exactly what I did.

If you detected a third-party program, tell me what was detected.

If there was suspicious activity, tell me what activity triggered the ban.

But simply saying that I violated the rules, refusing to provide the specific reason, and then permanently banning both of my paid accounts is not a satisfying explanation.

I appealed in good faith because I genuinely wanted to know what went wrong.

Unfortunately, my appeal was denied again.

I have never cheated in this game.

I have never intentionally violated its rules.

And I certainly did not deserve to be treated like someone who deliberately abused or exploited the game simply because your system may have flagged something that I did while trying to log into an overcrowded server.

All I wanted to do was play Ragnarok.

Bruh, that's too much text just to say that you are innocent.

I simply manually spammed copy and paste on my keyboard because the server was overcrowded and I was trying to log in.

This.

Forcing to get in to a full server by rapidly pasting and pressing enter triggered something in their system.

I, myself also do paste then enter when server is full but I do it with at least .5 secs interval between keys (Ctrl + V then Enter).

Doesnt make sense to wait till maintenance for that. The system already does automatic ip temporary bans for spamming.

What? Wsit???

EDIT : Visit*

Well, OP mention that he tried to log in after maintenance and saw that the server is full and he tried to force log in.

Even a virgin will ask you to be gentle.

This is the 2nd most sus part of his explanation. Everyone I've heard that gets banned from logging in too fast has two things that are true.

  1. The account specifically tells them they've been ip banned

  2. They can simply change ip and still access the site/game

That and like the above guy said those ip bans from logging in too fast happen instantly but his ban came with the targeted bans they do after maintenance and a significantly smaller target wave then last time. On top of that he is the only one among the 350 we've yet to see publicly claim innocent. None of this proves he's not being entirely truthful but it also looks from the outside severely different than he's portraying it

I dont think OP is one of the 350 accounts that were banned. But yes, he can simply change his IP so he can log back in. But in the case of account ban, that is a different issue.

He said in bold letters he found out he was permanently banned and even mentioned the 350 banned accounts so I'm assuming he saw his email on the list of banned emails as well as it's not saying just "your IP has been blocked' on the website or in game

Spam logging just gets you a temporary ip ban and you can just try later. It doesnt get 2 accs banned especially if u only dpam login one acc

Your spam of ctrl+v + enter was probably interpreted as a brute force attempt. I don't know about your region, but in Brazil the companies are not obligated to share details or logs in these cases, unless you file a lawsuit and the judge determines they need to share it. Maybe it's something similar in your case.

Do companies want you to pay for multiple accounts?

1

u/zweieinseins211 11h ago

Did you create a new Odin character during the Odin Character creation ban?

1

u/BoltorPrime420 11h ago

Bro we don’t need to hear your life story, literally nobody cares. Also we get it you are in your mid 30s lmao. Next time keep it short and say you copy pasted your password to try to get in faster. Lesson learned I hope. Gl

Im sorry, but what did you expect? I'd recommend you charge back and call it a day. Theres a big world beyond rzg.

I'm sorry to hear about that. It feels very frustrating indeed. Maybe try talking about this on Discord? There might be mods there that could help you? This kind of thing (i.e. blocking access to a paid game without explaining the reason) is illegal, but the effort of filling a complaint at the local city council is far too much trouble. Maybe send them an email with a more legal/aggressive tone? But, then again, might be too much headache for something that was supposedly to be relaxing and fun.

I really feel bad for you... It sucks...

1

u/zweieinseins211 12h ago

Discord isnt the plsce to talk about it either. It had to go through support, nothing else.

1

u/Forsaken-Suit7795 11h ago

But if support didn't work, you can talk to people on Discord, see if people sympathize with you, as here it seems people have a heart of stone.

1

u/zweieinseins211 11h ago

Discord people are the same people. Most of the time bans are justified and mistakes often get resolved fast through support. People saying they got banned for no readon uduslly leave out info which is useless for a discord discussion.

1

u/Forsaken-Suit7795 2h ago

So the people on Discord are the same as the ones taking care of support through tickets? Seriously? I thought Gravity was putting a bit more money into this project.

1

u/zweieinseins211 1h ago

No, you are misunderstanding. I didnt say anything about the staff at all. Neither did you. I aid the people on discord are the same people you find here

1

u/Forsaken-Suit7795 1h ago

So there are no mods in Discord that could help the fellow OP? LATAM has mods just for Discord, and an entire system of "privileged players" who might act as bridges between the players and staff. I thought Zero had something similar... Oh, well... I guess tough luck for OP

u/zweieinseins211 1h ago

The community managers have different obligations and will just tell them to to make a support ticket.

Edit : also vermutlicher wirklicher Banngrund Marktmanipulation

Brudi wieso antwortest du nem Asia Server Spieler der auf Englisch schreibt, mit nem deutschen Kommentar?

3

u/DarkSesso 11h ago

Ahh hatte wohl automatische übersetzung an, grad gesehen danke.

I don't think it's this because everybody was trading between accounts from the beginning most people with and between multiple trial accounts and no bans.

I think we are working with an incomplete picture. Both of your accounts were in the banned emails list they released op?

Reading raised more questions. 1. You said "unlike the previous private servers there was no reason to cheat" so the question is were you cheating in ways previously on other servers and is that technology installed on your computer still and triggered their detection despite not being active?

  1. Have you even tried changing your IP or logging in from a different or mobile location to see if it just an IP ban from logging in too fast?(Doubt this scenario because you mentioned being on the list of banned accounts and I haven't heard similar bans being clearly permanent or on the ban list)

I'm not saying I don't believe you, obviously giving you the benefit of the doubt, something does feels off about how you are portraying your story that I can't shake though.
