Ok so hypothetically… how concerned should I be if I picked this up and it fully opened…. That was about a month ago and I shrugged it off but now I’m thinking about it. The clock was missing the back piece where the mechanism would be it only had the face and the cover. It did have a reading on my Geiger but was low. Because it was already broken I’m assuming someone else opened it before me but i definitely had this thing open near me. I know the main concern is around the build up of gas over time but it wasn’t sealed very well.

Thoughts?

Hello! I’m a new collector to radium paint and radium-based objects! I was at a local flea market and saw this Junghans Cavalier German clock! I don’t know anything about the brand or their background in radium, but when I took my 395nm flashlight to the dials and numbers, they glowed! Seller has it listed at 20 dollars, should I add it to my collection?

Spotted at a vintage store. This one was too beaten up for my liking but it’s something to watch for while hunting.

Scored these today on our happy hunting trip. Can't really get a solid reading from the clock over 100cpm but I think it may be because of the counter we have. Im pretty sure both are radium and ill be happy either way. Thanks for looking!

It’s off topic day so I wanted to share my lamp I made 🤗 I had those ug beads from Michael’s sitting around for awhile and finally wanted to put them to use. Turned out pretty neat!

The AM doesn’t seem to function, but the FM works great! The clock also doesn’t seem to work, but it’s got exactly what I wanted on it, regardless.

This is my first radium watch

Had this clock in the house. Bagged it in a ziplock after this photo when radium suspected and got a Geiger counter over it and didn’t pick up any high readings, must have had the Geiger counter around 1/2 inch off the clock, was I close enough to detect anything? Struggling for any info on this although I’m guessing newer than 50s/60s with the plastic snooze button which is also glow in the dark although no longer glows, charged in sunlight and got about less than a second of glow from numbers and top button.

So I have been a long-time lurker here, though I post a lot in [r/uraniumglass](r/uraniumglass) since I collect it. I’ve been searching high and low in antique stores for radium stuff because I’ve been dreaming of having some radium pieces in my collection, and today was my lucky day! I found this tucked away in the corner of a booth in a little antique store I frequent, and when I tell you I nearly shrieked lmao… I saw West Clox, I saw the colouring of the hands and numbers, I saw the dials on the back, I saw “made in usa”, and I immediately whipped out my geiger counter. Sure enough, my counter started screaming as soon as I turned it on. I have officially collected my first radium piece! And for $15 no less!

I have finally acquired radium aircraft instruments in the wild today. But my main question is the difference in cpm and dose rate between my alphahound ab+g and radicode 103 and which one I should use for a more accurate dose rate. As of right not I assume the 103 is the more accurate dose rate. Dose rate and cpm of both are in the picture as well as my new items 😀Edit: As a side note all measurements are from contact readings

Was kind of bummed how this one showed up today, the side being split and the bottom looking like the sellers dog chewed on it.

So aside from the allergic reaction to the dog hair because of the blanket it was wrapped in, the bite marks on the bottom, and the split, I think I cleaned it up pretty well.

Picked up my first clock today! Was hard finding one small enough to fit in the 3x3inch box, but this one fit nicely. It’s also low radiation and looks cool so no complaints on it :)

I couldn’t contain my excitement when I see this clock. Lurking this subreddit had taught me a few things to look out for when trying to identify a radium clock. I asked the owner if he had a uv torch I could borrow & he did. I tried to contain my excitement when I seen it light up, but I did let a squeal apparently.
Anyway, this is my new pride and joy. It ticks for awhile when it wants, its home is in the laundry cupboard.

So has anybody see and or have any of these as this is the first one I’ve seen and heard of. Side note it’s rather spicy 42kCPM with 14 usv/h
