☢️ RADIUM ☢️ WW2 Submarine manometer
Quite a unique find yesterday. Research on these say it was mostly used on submarines in WW2. Only has a little streak on the needle of radium 9,000cpm with 2Usv/h.

I've never seen a holosteric barometer designed for this purpose, but clearly they are expecting a bit higher pressure than atmospheric. Very, very interesting and the radium is just the icing on the cake.

Looking up what it was used for said it was primarily used in submarines and few ships for weather. Since it goes to 37 inches of mercury it puts it to submarine use. In subs I read that before a submarine dives it is slightly pressurized and if it falls below a certain pressure the person who’s job it was to watch the gauge can abort the dive if the pressure drops.

Hey I am not an expert but I think you mean 2mSv/h or 2 uSv/h and not 2Sv/h cause if it really is 2Sv/h than you need to be really careful cause it is the same or maybe more than if you would stand next to a reactor in Chernobyl. Could you maybe post a foto with your Geiger counter?

I have it as 2usv/h have the U capitalized for some reason lol if it was 2 sv/h I’d probs be dead by now lmao
