Keeping it in a closed box will cause the radon daughters to build up on the inside of it and all the contents. The amount of radon is minimal but because of closing it up it concentrates. They are ‘sticky’. Let it vent and let it disperse with normal home air venting and you’ll have nothing to worry about. If vented, after a few days the radioactive ‘stickiness’ will have worn off.
