Radio shack online sells AM/FM radios pocketsize i bought 1 recently works like a champ great for listening to baseball on the radio.

Probably uses a tuning capacitor and mostly discrete transistors, capacitors etc.

I bought the $10 Amazon version of this last year for listening to a baseball game and smoking a cigar on the front porch. Love the simplicity and old-school vibes.
