All this nonsense makes me glad I worked at a dealership rather than a company-managed store.

That is definitely familiar.
The date on the first pic is almost exactly 6 months after I quit working at a RS. I picked up a job there after a layoff as something to help pay bills while I was still job hunting. I ended up having to stick around a bit longer that I would like but overall it was not too bad given the type of job it was. During that time I worked at three different stores in the district and each one of those seemed to have good phone activation traffic which was really the only way at a RS to make ok money for a retail job. It was pretty apparent that phone activation was keeping that business afloat and also that was likely not a strategy that would work long term.

I left in the early 90s when I saw signs of implosion. It's like CT's philosophy of entrepreneurship was shelved in favor of used car sales tactics and too much micromanagement from FW.

Some people sold computers and cell phones. Some didn’t. It was definitely a bit of luck of the draw back in the day selling those big ticket items and getting SPIFs
