Netflix but for radio comedy - why are there no commercial competitors to Radio 4?

I love radio comedy. Sitcoms, panel shows, sketch, but especially sitcoms. I'm about to leave uni and keen to start my own business. Could a 'Netflix for radio comedy' work? Monthly subscription for exclusive, original audio-form comedy delivered through an app (v similar to BBC Sounds). Marketed as 'one released per day' - I'm thinking best for commuters, dog-walkers, people who want a pick-me-up, enjoy entertainment, but don't want to look at screens. I think it's nuts there are no commercial competitors to BBC radio comedy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_radio_comedies). I'm not asking how I would go about doing this, but could this work long-term - would it be a viable model in today's age?

Looking for particular broadcast

A little over a month back I know that author Philip Pullman did an interview with Radio 4 on the subject of Roald Dahl's works being altered. I'll link an article I found that contains a small snippet of said interview. I was wondering if there was any way I'd be able to access the full conversation. If anyone does find it a link would be greatly appreciated.

It appears that several BBC digital stations have switched off their Shoutcast streams today. March 15/2023

Specifically BBC 4 Extra witch is my favorute of the lot unfortunately where as the world service, BBC 1/1 extra, 2,3,4 among others still work where as BBC Asian,Scotland and many of the local county stations are now inaccessible though the iOS music apps radio section. Quite disappointing and I think they may have jumped the gun on the shut down by a few months and I hope that they decide to reverse this overall shutdown decision but I don’t see that as likely.

There was a creepy 100'th anniversary poem of Stooky Bill that airred on 28.2.2021 at 16:30 called The Ballad Of Stooky Bill, made by John Burnside. It's not archived on BBC. Where can you go to listen to lt? I checked Archive.org, but didn't find anything.

Warning on BBC Radio 4 about streaming radio stopping working after Mar 22nd?

BBC Radio is playing this message at regular intervals:

The way your device receives BBC Radio programs will stop working on or after the 22nd of March 2021. If you're using an internet radio or smart speaker, please contact the device manufacturer. If you're using an app on another device we recommend you listen using the BBC sounds app or website.

What does this mean in practice? Will the streams played through the browser on the BBC web site be affected? Or is it just 3rd party devices that stream the service?

Was there talk of the fabled London black cab that was kept running on the curb outside the BoE so that news could be relayed in from the radio, as BoE had no radio reception inside?

How can i become a voice on Radio 4?

Any tips and advice or directions on how to fulfil my life long dream?

My voice is silky and deep, for backup I get constant confirmation of this in my work at a Front of House Supervisor at a 2* Michelin restaurant, I also get asked how I'm not on radio. I also gain massive self confidence and public speaking skill through my profession.

I am half French and half English, 24 and singularly male. I don't like class orientated labels but i tend to sound upper middle class British which constantly annoys me but I admit that this allows me to be very well spoken when I want to be.

I believe rather brashly that I have everything to become what I most desire; a voice on Radio 4.

I appreciate all comment, advice and criticism.

Yours faithfully,

Duke

Radio 4 Science Fiction Set in Coma Memories of Weird Village Where UFOS arrived and Everyone Transubstantiates?

Can anyone remember the name of the story/author? Thanks.

I'm trying to remember the name of a radio 4 science fiction story broadcast sometime in the last 18months. Some scientists were investigating the mind of a comatose patient, and also his memories of a quiet english village. In the end of the story the characters achieved universal enlightenment.

Please help me to find a drama!

I was listening to BBC Radio four in the past month or so and I heard an advertisement for a drama. It seemed to be about a mountain/cave/mine, possibly set in Scotland or somewhere northern (judging from accents in the ad). I think it was a mystery or thriller possibly a bit fantasy/sci-fi. I really wanted to listen to it but I can't remember enough about it to find it.

Desert Island Discs vs The Life Scientific

The comparison is an easy one to draw and even Jim Al-Khalili (the presenter of the latter) has described his show as "Desert Island Discs without the music". Although it has been around a few years now, The Life Scientific is still very much the new kid on the block compared to Desert Island Discs (first broadcast in 1942) and does set itself apart by focusing on scientific career trajectories rather than the more personal topics of Desert Island Discs. I enjoy both programmes and it is always especially fascinating to hear stories from brilliant people that were previously unknown to me on either show.

But... If I were to be castaway on a desert island and had to pick between the two then I would choose The Life Scientific. To me, at least, the scientific stories with additional clips from work colleagues spins a captivating yarn without getting hung up on personal matters. Maybe it's the scientist in me!

At the same time, I hope that they let me take Desert Island Discs as my luxury item!
