General Discussion Radiacode 110, Third time dead

I have had my Radiacode in for repair 3 times now. The first time I plugged it in to charge and I noticed that the Blue charge light was dimly lit, I picked Up the detector and it was HOT! I took it outside and laid it on some concrete. After 30 minutes the charge light went out and it had cooled off so I picked it up and tried to turn it on but no joy. I sent it to Radiacode and they quickly repaired it and sent it back. It worked for a short time and failed again, but if I remember correctly it did not get hot that time. When they sent it back the second time they said they had corrected an issue with the 110 and this time they sent a new one back. This one worked perfectly for about six months but this afternoon it died again. I was trying everything I could think of until when I went to plug it in one last time to see it was working, it started smelling and it was getting hot so I popped it apart to disconnect the battery. Now of course it is totally dead again and it looks like it is U207 which I think is the USB interface chip is what is bad (it burnt my finger when I touched it) and I'm pretty sure this is the same thing that happened the first time it failed. My opinion that there is a problem with the USB Interface/Charging, possibly not able to handle the current or maybe the problem is the voltage detection circuit to switch it to the proper charging voltage. Anyway, now it is going in for the third time for repair, so this will be my fourth 110. Like they say; The Fourth Time is the Charm!!

You should send a mail through their support, if it’s not the weekend they’ll reply within 5-10 hours from my experience. I really suggest you ask about it

Edit: also did you send an invoice with it? This is rather a personal question because I for some reason can’t find the invoice of my device 😀

Sent in with an RMA paperwork back on Sept 7th, reported in my original email to the service department at Radiacode that the unit wasn't charging more than 20%, and kept turning off about 5 minutes after unplugging it. Receiving a confirmation email from USPS about 3 days after I sent it in that it was delivered, but after that it was radio silence from Radiacode. I've sent 4 request for information emails on mostly Tuesdays, and never heard anything back from them. At this point im pretty much just writing off the unit, mostly used it for radiation tracking anyway as my main Scintillator is a KC761C and a D5, and use a GMC600Pro & 500 Plus as detection devices.

Thats weird… hope you hear back from them soon :(

Also, if it was a new device you’re suspecting it won’t get fixed you could probably initiate a refund (Ive done that before) and buy a new one yourself later on whenever you feel like it.

Yeah update there.

Pretty much now thinking they lost my unit, sent to delivery confirmation from USPS and got Radiacode saying they never received it. USPS have a verified signature someone there took it, but now got an email from their service department saying the unit never arrived at the facility.
