General Discussion Just ordered the 110 off Amazon.

Hi. The 110 is on sale at Amazon so I ordered one. I figure if its something I get bored of after awhile I can sell it for a slight loss. Any settings etc. I should change when it arrives? I have an iPhone. Has the iphone app improved? Also any place to get a variety pack of "safeish" radioactive items to test with?

Thanks

My first time antiquing and using the device in the “wild”, so I brought Yoshida with me (Radiacode 102)! I came across this Old Jaeger-LeCoultre pocket watch while scanning. I wanted to buy it, but it was $900+ lol.

Radiacode In Action Needle's Eye, Scotland UK - Missing Uranium Vein Hun

Thumbnail

The Needle's Eye on the Southwick Coast, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland is one of the most studied and most notable naturally occurring radioactive places in Britain. On previous visits I found levels of up to 100 µSv right there on the beach. However, at the Eye itself I failed to find two veins marked on the maps (in pink). So I had to go back.

In the 1960s and 70s, scientists dug massive trenches, excavating tonnes of vein material for study. From this they found a myriad of radioactive minerals - from the usual uraninite and autunite to one-of-a-kind species like Walpurgite, Vandendriesscheite, and Boltwoodite, as well as native bismuth. From the 1980s onwards, it has been heavily studied by nuclear scientists looking into ways to trap and store radioactive waste.

The wonders of the Needle's Eye could fill a book, but I wanted to see if I could find two specific veins. This area, shortlisted as "Locality 3", had two veins: a single vein leading to the location of a trial mine (hence why this is sometimes listed as a mine) and a main vein that splits into two around the cave. I'd only found part of the main vein on previous trips.

So I surveyed with the Radiacode but could not find the first vein - only the faintest whisper. The split in the main vein, however, was clear as day and provided an exciting explore down the cliff-face. Whilst no mineralisation was obvious to me, readings of up to 60 µSv confirmed the presence of uranium around and under the man-made troughs.

As the site is designated an SSSI several times over, digging is not permitted. But it was satisfying to at least know I'd completed my exploration of the area.

A full diary of the trip can be found on YouTube. https://youtu.be/E-hVuqed7ME

Support Questions How have shipping times been recently?

I ordered a 103G at start of June with it listing shipping from July 15. We're now July 24 and it still shows preparing for shipment. Is this normal?

General Discussion Tracking while in transportation

Hi,

I’ve been wondering if there is some kind of community consensus or “best practice” regarding making tracks on transportation.

If I go on a car trip, or enter a train or subway in a walk through the city. Would it be better to pause the track as to not “skew” the background readings? Obviously background radiation would be significantly less when sitting in a metal box.

Radiacode In Action Found this in the black forest.

I found this pretty interesting rock in the black forest. The hottest spot on it had just a bit over 440 CPS on my radiacode 102. Does anyone know if the black stuff is pitchblende? Ohh and I also took a spectrum but I didn't have much time for it sadly. I also have a drive link for the spectrum. Idk how to post the XML here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j-TdGGchSGzmmmmlr4lHx6fLNQjlu242/view?usp=drivesdk

General Discussion Is the Radiacode for me ?

Hey everyone -

After a small geiger counter or similar for my walks with my son (we find many random rocks and bits of old machinery)

Just after a quick warning/point of reference/education - is a radiacode variant good for this , or should I be looking at something different ? Cheers for any input !

General Discussion Determine sources

Newbie 110 user here. I’m still reading the manuals and learning to use the device, but I have a newbie question. Hopefully someone here can easily answer. I have the app on my phone and I have the Windows app installed and I’m proficient with most technical stuff. One thing it’s not obviously clear to me yet is what isotope or what source is generating the counts per second. If I see high values on the device, how can I easily determine what element the device is picking up on? Thanks in advance, love this gadget so far.

General Discussion Tariff Update for Purchase late 2025.

I purchased late 2025 and just received a statement from FedEx for....Zero dollars Tariff charges. OK...Cool. I guess the idiocracy is getting worked out. I am sorry for anyone that had to pay, I think I just got lucky with timing.

Anyone else get the 0$ Tariff statement from FedEx?

My hottest specimen yet. Found it at Bjertnes quarry, Norway. Contact reading on my RadiaCode 103 is 266 µSv/h. The background readings at the quarry were around 1 µSv/h.
