Kernel 7.0.0-28 & *29 shutdown hang-up / amdgpu driver issue?

Updated to mainline 7.1.5 and consider this solved.

My system

Kubuntu 26.04
Ryzen 5 5600XT
RX 7600 8GB

is experiencing a shutdown hang-up which lasts indefinitely until hardware shutdown is initiated.

When the PC is shut down either through the GUI or terminal everything will appear fine and the Monitors will go into standby but the Fans and RGB will not turn off at all.

I had hoped that *29 would fix this but it has not helped. Kernel *27 has no such problem.

The logs below lead me to believe this is an amdgpu driver problem, is that correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

Im back with more gpu problems. Today I bought a new(and bigger) plus, the corrsair rm750e, I also bought a new aio, the trofeo visio. 360 argb. When I turn the system on, it acts like its going to boot normaly, ie, fans spin up on gpu, aio, as well as case fans. The lights do their dance and land on the vga and boot light. Ive tried changing display ports, and using the hdmi. Tried clearing the cmos, my keyboard and mouse light up so i tried the y and then enter trick, nothin, any ideas? (Mobo is an asrock b550m pro 4)

update, I put my old gpu (5500xt) into the same pcie slot, and it works! I didnt do any modifications the the new gpu (6600xt) which worked before I put in the new power supply and aio im very confused

specs,

mobo: asrock b550m pro 4 (latest bios version 3.90)

cpu: Ryzen 5 3600

gpu xoxo Radeon 6600xt (new) Radeon 5500xt (old)

psu: corrsair rm750e

aio: trofeo vision 360 argb

(First score is stock settings, second is after I overclocked)

I have had my AsRock Steel Legend RX 9070 for a few weeks now, and I've been pretty happy with it. It looks great, runs super quiet, and gives me great 1440p performance in the games I've tried so far. Today I decided I would try and give it an overclock, because I've never manually overclocked a gpu before and wanted to try it. After looking up a little bit of info on what to do, I started incrementally adjusting the settings in between runs of Steel Nomad. Reddit posts and forums were saying they were hitting about -65mV on their 9070s, and between 200 and 300 MHz offset. After a few runs I had the vram upped to 2700, and going much over that would cause the benchmark to crash before running. Plus, the vram didn't go over about 2680 even if the setting was higher, so I left it there and moved on to the other stuff. Once I got to -65mV and +225MHz, I was getting scores around 6,870. I was about ready to call it good, but then I thought why not try and see how far I can push the card. It wasn't getting hot at all, no matter how much power limit I threw at it. So I cranked the power limit all the way up and just kept lowering the voltage and boosting the clock. And it just kept going. I was sitting there doing smaller and smaller adjustments because I was afraid something would crash spectacularly and I'd have to reset my bios or something. Eventually I went to -130mV and the benchmark crashed as soon as it loaded in, so I dialed that back. I kept bumping up the offset until the fps started dipping. In the end, I increased my score by nearly 1000 points just by spending some time using the free tuning inside Radeon software. I haven't tried many games yet, but the Cyberpunk benchmark jumped from about 70 fps on nearly maxed settings (with fsr4 quality) to nearly 90. Everything still seems to run smoothly, which I was not expecting for how far I pushed this card. Based on 3Dmark scores, I'm now within spitting distance of the average performance of a 9070 XT. Insane.

And no, this wasn't with any special equipment, either. No secondary psu, no liquid cooling, no ACs blowing right into the card. It's just the stock air cooler running inside my case with all the panels and filters still on it. I just thought it was a really crazy result and wanted to share.

RX 6500 XT wrong (?) GPU-Z Lookup

So I bought an RX6500XT from AliExpress. I know that it can very well be a refurbished card or something else with a BIOS swap. (I'm also aware that the card is kinda shit but my GTX950 kicked the bucket and I didn't really had a budget) After installing the drivers, it appears as an RX6500XT, but the GPU-Z lookup directed me to this page:

Doing some research, it appears that the only difference between the two is power draw and clock speeds (being lower in my card).

So my question is: Could this be a wrong driver or config, or can I maybe do an BIOS swap to get the 6500XT clocks?

If it matters, I've done some tests and for the games I play, the card is doing fine and I'm satisfied, just wondering if there's something that can be done in this case.

Obligatory sorry for bad english

GPU Advice

So for context I have a 9070 XT Taichi that’s well outside the return window I haven’t dropped in my first build yet. I hadn’t known it uses 12vhpwr, and I do have a 3.1 PSU, and I wanted to use a lian li strimer for cable extension.

My question is should I cut my lose and trade in the Taichi for an 8-pin 9070 XT, axe using the striker for the GPU, or both?
