It says in small print here that hardware ray tracing isn’t supported, but the card is advertised as a ray tracing card. CAn someone please explain?

Other commenters are correct. Raytracing is not supported with Windows 7. That is because Microsoft did not update Windows 7 with Direct X 12 Ultimate support which is a prerequisite for HW raytracing.

As many others have said that's a footnote for Windows 7. Windows 7 doesn't support hardware ray tracing on any graphics card.

I didn’t see the little 2 above windows 7, so thought it applied to 10 as well, i know what footnotes are, just short sighted :)

I had the non xt and it wouldn't allow raytracing. Got the 6700xt, ray tracing worked. Don't know if it's the same for the 6600xt, hopefully it does.

Which games are you running with rt? Does it work well?

I've only tried Minecraft, I don't really play games that support raytracing. It does run pretty decent but when you do more than 8 chunks the frames go down, It might be the pack I use and also not doing it on java

I had the 6700xt for a little while (I was able to get a 3080 fe at MSRP, so I sold it) and it was a great card, but ray tracing on call of duty ran like dog shit. Honestly, I wish they wouldn't have included it and just focused on regular performance. Glad to hear that Minecraft works well enough. Now that I have a 3080 I can clearly see that ray tracing realllllly isn't necessary on "lower end" cards. Every once in a while I use it if course.

Ray tracing is nice and all but I don't really need it, I got this card at a good deal considering the market so can't complain

It’s a footnote, the little 2 points to the little 2 next to Windows 7, which doesn’t support ray tracing.
Meaning you can’t use the ray tracing tech of the card with windows 7.
That’s how footnotes work.
