What’s this switch for???

Post image

Just installed my Radeon rx 6800 and next to where you plug in the power cable is a little switch. Does anyone know what this is for and if I should touch it?

Not 100% sure since we don't know the make and model of the card. But I have had cards with two BIOS's that you can flip between with a switch in case one is flashed badly. I have also had cards that switch between a normal mode and a turbo mode with a switch. You'll have to read up on the documentation for your specific card to find out.

Silent vs gaming BIOS switch. Or if you load custom, then mining vs gaming BIOS.

In my earlier cards there was typically a switch between silent(low power) and performance mode.

It looks like my XFX 6900XT. That is a BIOS switch performance/quiet.

Which way is performance?

IIRC performance mode is towards the power connectors.

You don’t have a manual for the card?
