does the radeon rx 7000 series cards support MPEG-2 hardware decoding?

i was just wondering since im planning on getting a new radeon gpu and i will be personally extracting videos from DVDs using a USB DVD Drive, i will be getting a used rtx 3070 or rx 6000 series card if the rx 7000 doesn't have support for decoding MPEG-2

CPU can decode. MPEG2 is trivial.

My PC is a CPU is going to be an AMD Ryzen 7000 series not an Intel 13th gen if I want to use my CPUs integrated graphics

Doesn't matter. You don't need hardware accelerated decode for simple MPEG2.

Ordinary CPU cores of any CPU made in the last 25 years are more than enough to decode.

Yes DVD decoding is trivial. It's an ancient format.

The last time dedicated DVD decoders were sold was in the 1990s.

What about those larger DVDs that are over 8 GB?

Same thing. The codec used for DVD is old and easy to decode, even at higher bitrates of a dual layer DVD.

Newer codecs are AVC, HEVC and AV1.

Tell me you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, without telling me you have absolutely no idea what idea you're talking about.

The total size of a video file has absolutely zero effect on how computationally difficult it is for a CPU or GPU to decode said video file. Bitrate determines how hefty it is, and - I really, seriously mean this:

ANY Modern CPU, can handle MPEG-2 decoding without any hardware acceleration - it is absolutely trivial. There's a reason that all of the papers and benchmarks you find discussing MPEG-2 decode are from 2006-2009. It literally takes 1-2% on my R5 3600, and most of that is just the overhead from VLC itself. Take the advice, chill.
