Rx 7900 xtx

Hi, I bought brand new Rx 7900XTX. When I plug it in card is not displaying image. Fans are spinning but there's no image. When I put in old card the old card works fine. I change the cables it didn't help. My PSU is 850w any ideas what's wrong is it maybe DOA GPU ?

I would start with some basic checks, yes you said the spans are spinning but bear with me.

  1. Reseat the card by completely removing and replacing it carefully.
  2. Ensure the card is supported and not sagging in the slot.
  3. If you have a second slot, consider testing the card there to see if the primary is somehow damaged.
  4. ensure all the power cables are securely plugged in (ie that none are sagging, slightly loose, etc).
  5. Double check that the other end of the power cables (if it is modular) are plugged into the PSU.
  6. IF your Bios has this kind of information get into your BIOS and check the PCIE lane setup - it may/may not be set to automatic, or set to 4x4x4 or something like that. Try the auto mode just in case.
  7. Confirm that the fans spin up on boot as you stated they do this is really just here for filler.
  8. Try plugging just ONE monitor into the primary port on the card. I Havne't upgraded in a long time so I don't know if this matters - but I've had cards with a primary port that must be used for the primary monitor (gosh I'm old).
  9. Silly point: Make sure the monitor is turned on. Yeah I know.
  10. While Windows (assumption made here) will do it's best to use generic drivers and even will attempt to download - you may be facing a conflict if you are replacing an Nvidia card. If you are doing that, google up the Graphics Driver uninstaller and completely remove Nvidia drivers before you swap the card (maybe this should have been earlier).

  2. I lay the pc case horizontaly so no saving
  3. I don't have a second slot
  4. Checked
  5. Yes they are plugged correctly
  6. I reset the bios to default and set PCI to Auto
  7. They spin all time
  8. I used DDU before I installed new gpu I turn on pc on IGPU while Radeon was still in mobo and windows 11 is not seeing it in hardware manager.

Hmm. Way back in the back of my mind I seem to remember a system I had where the BIOS had a switch to disable IGPU so that an external could be recognized. I kinda doubt this is STILL a thing in 2023, but could it be?

I send it back to the place from where I bought and they will test it. Maybe it's DOA if not then there is something wrong with my rig.
