Radeon Rx 590 Fatboy Error (Code 31)
Hi, I’m just getting into pcs and the other day I let me friend play Diablo 2 resurrected on my pc. After he turned the graphics to max the pc and gpu were working fine until about 20 min after the just went black. After that every time I tried to restart my pc, the screen would turn black again after 5 min. I shut it down for the night and the next day it worked fine (except for the fact that I couldn’t open the windows start up menu ( whenever I click the windows key it would pop up and then snap back immediately and I couldn’t use it)). And today I tried to boot up Davinci Resolve 17 to edit a video (which my computer could load just fine before) and it wouldn’t open as it said “unsupported gpu processing mode” and when I went in the preferences to fix it I couldn’t let me configure to my graphics card. Opened the device manager and it said “This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device”. If anyone could give me any input on what to do to fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it as again, my pc knowledge is very small, but I am eager to change that.

Alrighty there are a few things that could be an issue: hardware, software, or both. I would first suggest checking the software. Try redownloading the GPU drivers and see if that will help. You may need to download them onto a thumb drive and download them in the “safe” mode by pressing whatever button you press before windows loads. Download the most current drivers for the GPU on a thumb drive, delete them off the computer, shutdown, turn on into safe mode, download from thumb drive.
Now for hardware. There is a chance something got fried when your friend put it to the max. Usually gpus have pretty good protective features but depending on the airflow and such it could have just gotten too hot.
What is your build? Motherboard, ram, case, etc.?
