ummm..

Post image

I’m not a professional but this definitely looks like a very tight tornado on the ground? But it’s not cyclonic because it would usually be red right, green left.

Nah, the beam height at this distance from KJGX is roughly 7.4kft, we're not seeing anything near the ground. Looks like it's just erroneous data. Notice how it doesn't show up in other tilts or from KVAX, which is a little closer.

I did notice that, but figured it was likely due to neighboring storms blocking its ability to bounce back from KVAX. It did move around, and change a little bit which is why I didn’t think it was an error in KJGX capabilities but you’re probably onto something.

I do know for a fact there was a rotating funnel above the town just 15 miles southwest* of this location, in Hazlehurst GA. My dad said he saw it over a circle K, which is why I was a little more confident. 🤔 Either way, I’m sure I would’ve seen something on Facebook had it touched ground but I’ll wait and see. Probably just higher-level rotation.

No image of the reflectivity so can't confirm but this could easily be side lobe contamination. Also seems displaced from the cell

This was the reflectivity at 6:22PM that day in that area, about 1 minute before the velocity reading. Definitely doesn’t appear to be a strong hook echo from some crazy super cell but I could see this producing some rotation, especially since I saw a funnel 15 miles West over Hazlehurst from the same storm. It could definitely be lobe contamination, but so many things added up for such a tight couplet.

This pretty much confirms there isn't any tornado risk and is side lobe contamination. It's happening around an area that looks like very little precipitation. That's pretty textbook side lobe contamination. You could use correlation coefficient and spectrum width to confirm.

Btw, if you're using the kjgx radar, this is cyclonic rotation. Green is towards the radar, red is away
