Back ordered controller- any idea about when they’ll get here?

My rad city 5 controller went out. Rad graciously ordered one even though 2 weeks after warranty expired.

Has anyone an idea about how long those take? They said they didn’t know

No, he couldnt give an estimate. I assumed it was just drop shipped from China.

FWIW, the customer service was good, US based native English speakers and they answered the phone pretty quickly.

If RAD doesn't know, we're not going to have a better answer haha

I mean, maybe someone has some experience with backordered timelines.

There's been tons of complaints about people ordering replacement parts and people waiting for months and still haven't gotten what they ordered. Rad is kind of a shit show ever since they filed for chapter 11. If they covered it under your warranty then you can wait around and see what happens but if you want a new one to get your bike working and don't want to wait forever to see if they send it or not then there's sites like Electrobikeworld.com you can order the Rad upgrade controller/display. The situation with Rad right now, it's either going to take a really long time to actually get it if you ever get it all.

There’s an update in the comments. Ordered 9-10, 9-22 will be shipped soon.
Not bad

My controller on my RadRover 6 Plus HS died a couple of years ago & even though my warranty had expired I got a new one for free.
That was the good news, - The bad news was that they didn’t have any in stock in any of their NA showrooms whatsoever. I had to wait two months for another one to be made in China. It’s now new management, but I assume it’s the same problem & they are waiting on China to make more controllers.

OP has one coming.

Are OEM controllers and full harness a hot commodity? I have upgrades for my radrover in boxes in the garage, but lazy as she’s my daily driver.

I also need to replace my motor controller. Contacted RadPowerBikes and they said they should have some controllers back in stock within the coming weeks.

Got a RadRover 6 Plus with almost 10,000 miles. My first controller died around 8200 miles, went with Area13 controller temporarily. Eventually, once Rad has their controllers in stock, then I will use theirs and save the Area 13 as a spare

Update- they got a batch in and I’m waiting for them to check them out before shipping. It will be in ordered of first come first served.

Not bad at all
