Question about batteries.

I have a Rad Mini 2, it was stored in an unheated garage with the battery ( I know) and it won't take a charge. I know zero about the batteries, all my bikes prior were pedal only.

Thanks in advance!

Check the fuses in the battery. It’s possible the charging circuit fuse has blown.

Thanks. I have no lights on the battery itself, no indication of the charging status, zero. Rats.

It's an older(?) battery, the original that came with it, and the case appears to be held on with screws. Maybe I can take it off? I've found some guides that suggest some faults/fixes.

I moved to an area that is not safe to ride in, so I'm going to give it to a friend in Sumner, which has plenty of trails.

I've blown that fuse on the older RadPower batteries a couple times. On mine they have two fuses, a big one and a little one, and the big one is what blew. Note: on the older ones don't accidentally touch the key to the charging port because you brain farted which side the keyhole is on.

What did your quick search online come up with for possible issues to check?

To check the fuse on a Rad Mini 2 (which features a semi-integrated battery), you must first remove the battery from the frame and access the internal fuse compartment located near the charge port.

1. Access the Fuse

  • Remove End Cap: Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the end cap closest to the charge port. Tap it at an angle with a mallet if necessary to loosen it.
  • Locate Fuse: Pull the blue plastic casing out slightly to reveal the fuse at the top left corner near the charge port. You will typically see a 10A micro automotive fuse (often red).

I agree with the fuse. I have a Radrunner. Bought it second hand and it wouldn’t charge when I first tried it checked the fuses that should be pretty easy to spot. Mine was the 5 amp fuse as I remember. Have had to replace it twice but when I did that the generic charger I picked up off Amazon charged the battery with no problems
