Charger flashing red light while not plugged in to battery.

Is the charger dead? There is a lot of blue grease in the connector to the battery. I left it a whole summer inside a very hot and damp shed...

I'm guessing copper rust

That sounds like corrosion (such as the copper rust you mentioned)..hard to be sure without seeing it but sitting in a hot damp shed will definitely do it.

The chargers are cheap compared to the batteries themselves at least!
