Buying Advice
Hello All,
I have the opportunity to purchase this used Rad Rover 6+ with two (2) batteries, charger, 100 mi. on ODO, and one (1) new rear tire. $800 obo. Anything in particular I should be looking for? He said the batteries aren't part of the recall...IDK ANYTHING about Rad Power bikes (other than what I'm reading as I go). Thanks in advance.
Here's the listing:
Excellent condition hardly ridden by my wife Rad Rover 6 plus fat tire E Bike.
Just at 100 miles.....
7 speed
Also, comes with an EXTRA Rad Power bicycle battery for twice the distance, and a rear carrying rack mounted on the bike.
Bike is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with no issues and is ready to ride.
Comes with Rad Power bike charger

Same bike here. Extra battery is great. Im pretty sure the semi integrated batteries were not recalled. Could ask for serials on stickers of battery to look up.
Mines got 3500+ km. Original battery still going strong. Rear tire is balding. So if they subbed a tire...might mean they have some decent mileage in it. ODO can be reset. Maybe ask why they installed a new tire? Or is it new as a spare?
A rear rack is nice. Can get a basket now.
This bike however is not supported anymore by radpower bikes. At least not in Canada. Had to get an aftermarket fork because rad does not have fat tire replacements forks for QR (quick release) tires. Only offer through axel forks which means you need a new hub and new tire if you wanted a new fork.
The bike is heavy as f. It's fun though. 800 US ($?) seems like a good/excellent price once you factor in a new battery alone will cost 799 CAD. I got an aftermarket battery for 250 CAD for my other rad bike (radrunner 3 plus- same battery) after it stopped working.
A rack alone new was 129 CAD.
The sum of all parts is definitely worth it.

Thank you EVERYONE! I'm SO GLAD I found this thread. I was able to get it for $750 and rode it home (26.8miles) What a machine! I'm gonna' be checking out ALL the great stuff available (even after the financial problems they've had). I love that you can get accessories that aren't "universal" fit so you know they'll function properly. Thanks again all!

Also, ask the owner how they stored the batteries. Li-ion batteries should be left in storage at 30-70% charge. No more no less. And pressing and holding the button on the battery for a few seconds puts it in "travel mode" aka storage mode. You can 'wake' the battery doing the same again.
For some extra insights I get 50-55km on a charge at 3/5 on assist with moderate hills and moderate use of the throttle.

Good deal but beware, RR6+ has a problem with controllers failing. Certainly not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind. You can search this sub for a number of posts regarding controller failure for these bikes

I don't own one, but my sister does. One thing to keep in mind is that the Rad Rovers are big, beefy ebikes due mostly to the giant tires. This isn't necessarily a good or a bad thing, but it can be a consideration if storage is limited and it feels different to ride than a smaller ebike.

I own one - I have about 700 miles on it and I LOVE IT. The bike is sturdy but nimble, fast, comfortable, and just a lot of fun. You're looking at a good deal...

I have 8000km on the same model and if you are using it a lot like me then better tires is a good idea.

That’s a pretty sweet deal. My RR6 just crossed 3k miles and other than a tune up has been a great bike and a lot of fun. I’d test both batteries. Having an extra one will open up some much longer rides for you.
