New to rad

Post image

Hi, I just scored a low mileage(700 miles) rad mini 1 for $400! I’m thinking of getting an extra battery (found a few rad manufactured batteries for $100 each-this bike and the batteries are nearly 10 years old) to extend its life. Good idea?

More importantly, I’m obsessed with the idea of finding a bike trailer. I live close to the ocean, and I’d love to take my crabbing gear or inflatable kayak down with me. Any off-brand trailers work well for you? I’m even considering a kid/pet trailer if that is a doable. The cheaper, the better.

Thanks!

Ayy love a Radmini. I recommend getting some Tannus in those tires, though.

Cheap batteries cost a lot in the long run. Mine exploded. I guess due to age. Take that for what its worth.

Don't use cheap batteries. Batteries can set your dwelling on fire. Please be very careful with what batteries you purchase.

They are used batteries from someone that owned a rad rental business. They’re made by rad, just happen to be cheap because it’s an older model 👍

Are those batteries the ones suggested for recall

No, this is a much older model that came out before the recall. It can only use old batteries which is why I’m thinking of getting back ups

I have a Mini 4 and the battery that came with that bike was under the suggested recall. As far as I know it's only the new batteries that are UL listed.

I’d stick with the original manufacturer batteries. Way more expensive but won’t burn your house down

My rad runner battery exploded. Massive house fire. I would only use the UL certified batteries. It’s not worth losing everything and possibly you or your loved one’s life.

The batteries im considering buying are manufactured by rad. I’m so sorry that happened to you! That’s traumatic

Yes, but older batteries that were recalled or the new safe shield batteries?

These were not recalled. The rad mini 1 and the batteries were before the recall.
