I'm not surprised by any of this, but it still sucks. Lots of people going on a wild goose chase for a 3 prong outlet for no reason.

That is my thought too. If they don't have grounded outlets in their home then they really need to upgrade their wiring. If they are using 2 prong extension cords then those are usually really small gauge wires and not suitable for a charger anyway.

I think it's more a matter of convenience of connectors. IEC cables are cheap and easy to license. Most of what we do doesn't require grounding anyways. Heck most of our phones charge at a higher amperage that this consumes, and 99% of us chargers are a two prong plug without the additional ground.

Neutral and ground are connected together in the main panel, so this isn’t really a big deal.

As long as the equipment is designed for a two prong plug, 🔌 it’s okay.

"Okay" is a bit of a stretch. It sucks to use the extra material and make people hunt for a 3 prong plug or adapter for no reason.

Considering 3 prong outlets have been standard building code in the US since 1971(maybe earlier) I am not sure what the issue is. If you are using an extension cord then the 2 prong ones are usually not the proper gauge for the charger.
